As the above question asks, what motivates you as a domain name investor?
Also, on the flipside, what do you do on those days you lack motivation?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Sales of other domainers as well as own sales. Just one of the many factors of getting motivation.

Some stupid names selling for sky high prices make me believe there is hope for every name.

I love treasure hunting in the drop lists. I should behave, and focus more on selling. :)

I agree making sales is a huge motivation because it gets you to see success and I find myself thinking if I can do it once I can do it again. And the more sales you make the more encourage you get.

The tough part is when those sales are not coming in, but when this happens just being able to see the success of others is a huge encouragement and keeps you from not giving up. This is why it is so important to be involved in the NamePros forum and the domain community, it helps a ton.

When it comes to staying productive you really need to focus on pre planning and having a list of things you have to get done, list them from most important to less important and get it done.

Motivation:
  1. Present success
  2. Future potential

Flip side:
  1. Trolls: I yell at them when I have time.
  2. Negativity: I try to ignore it.

The pros outweigh the cons, IMO. :cigar:

Motivation - exploring and finding still great names for handreg fee

Demotivation - managing ever growing portfolio

The fact that I want to be successful and what I have is not satisfactory. I have the hunger for more. Until I get where I want to be. I don't lack motivation I'm always working on something. People that sit around and do nothing get nowhere.

As the Op, i feel it only appropriate that i should comment too.

Each and every day for me is a new and exciting challange.

The day starts catching up on the news to find out the latest trends/topics both inside and outside of the domain industry. Then comes the hunt for those hidden hems within the expiring drop lists, and the chase for those aged Domains within the expiring auctions all contributes to me building a quality portfolio.

In terms of what demotivates me there isn't much. If I had to say something it would probably be losing out on a domain that I came sooo close to winning through GD Auctions.

Even then, I just most on to the next...

I'm not sure if it has amotivation. It's part of my work. So if I lack motivation I Always have other things to do.

Freedom basically. 15 years boss/job free. Plus, what Fancy.domains said below "fun of it..."

This is really fun for me, I enjoy the hunt (finding names).

Money, freedom and the fun of it...

What motivates me, is (primarily) naturally the ultimate fact that I own / offer the only untoppable and therefore the most expensive domain of all time plus my absolute conviction that I will sell it for the highest price for which a domain has ever been sold.

Reading about the sale of a domain that most people call crap. It just sharpens my treasure hunting eyes the more

What doesn't motivates me and pisses me off is when domainers take a stupid random domain and ask xxxx for it like really dude why bother bumping the thread 100 times
