Altco.in

I added two domains yesterday (Fig.ht and JesusChri.st) and I see others did so you could contact them and see whether they are still admitting domains. It must be worth a try surely.

@TheBaldOne , do you get an email when a bid is received on one of your names?

Unfortunately I don't know, as neither www.Fig.ht nor www.JesusChri.st has received a bid yet. If either do receive bids I will post whether I received an email.

(Seems strange that only 21 of the domains has any bids at all at the moment, but I guess that is domaining. )

Thanks, will let you know as well, I havent received bids either, hoping for something at least on Satoshi.es.

I think we should also market the auction in out private capacity, twiiter/FB/Linkedin etc..

I agree about marketing ourselves as well. I will be starting tomorrow, Tuesday, sending out some emails. (Something I learned years ago was the best time to email prospective buyers, and especially if they are companies are Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday. I found emails sent Friday / Saturday / Sunday all get dealt with on Mondays so there can be a lot of conflicting things for people to do on the first day of the work week - hence I don't send on Monday's either.)

Being an 'Old Fogey' I had to look up 'Satoshi.es'. That is a good domain and I would be surprised if it didn't attract attention, it certainly has a market IMO. Good luck with it. :)

@TheBaldOne great idea, I will also start promoting from later today, providing link to the auction in general and also to specific names, then everyone can benefit. I also heard the same thing about mail on Tue,Wed and Thur.

Im also "old school", but yeah, I really like the whole crypto movement, so the name made sense...

Also good luck with your names.

Pierre

I am very glad I did not try to ad ALTCO.in - because it's not mine. Glad your post got me looking closely at all my names. I actually have atlco.in - sadly and mistakenly.

Well I can now say that sellers do not get emailed when a bid is placed on one of their domains in the auction. I can see no problem with this, just means that maybe it is a nice when checking the auctions. :)

My hacks were all accepted for Undeveloped auction.
They normally accept up to 3 domains per user, but they made an exception this time.
My submitted domains:
CloudComputi.ng
SelfDrivi.ng
AutonomousCa.rs
SelfDrivingCa.rs
DriverlessCa.rs

I see DNJournal are reporting this week that the domain hack Envelop.es sold for $2,380 on Nidoma, this bodes well for the Undeveloped.com auction as does the opening week of the auction.

There are now with 72 domains in the auction and 19 days left. I have updated my spreadsheet of the auction and included the 'reserve range' for each domain, here it is:

There are some real gems in this auction, many of which are priced to sell even at re-seller prices IMO. Good luck to all the sellers. :)

Is anybody else watching and hoping to pick up a domain in the Undeveloped.com domain hack auction?

https://undeveloped.com/domain-name-auction/lots

The auction still has 16 days to go and presently there are 92 domains up for auction some of them have already reached their reserve prices whilst some others have been listed without a reserve at all. The current highest bid domain is 'Insu.re' (currently at $3,100 but unsurprisingly hasn't yet reached it's reserve price).

I am bidding on a few domains and will maybe be able to pick up a bargin, with luck I may manage to pick up one or two and maybe even sell one of the two domains I personally have listed.

I know that domainers are split on the value of domain hacks but the fact is they keep on selling no matter what the naysayers keep harking on about year in and year out, and for a registration fee and possibly plus renewals they still represent a good investment IMO. ;)

Glad you started this thread, was following your updates in the hacks thread : smile :

Hacks can be hit or miss, I still like them though, so will be interesting to see how this auction goes.

1
•••
Well not much reaction to this thread at all, pity really, as the auction is likely to produce some good results.

1
•••
Well people have to sign up/sign in to even see the names via your link. Might put a damper on the enthusiasm. I am on my phone and did not have my login info. So that killed it for me.

Have to agree with @usernamex to me they are hit and miss. And that being more miss than hits. But you see end user demand for these?

Well 'Leon' has just issued me a warning for 'inappropriate advertising. What 'inapprorpriate advertising he actually fails to tell me I have committed. He has also moved this to the advertising section, why I have no idea, I didn't even mention either of my domains in the auction and indeed the only domain I mention is one I DO NOT OWN, it just happens to be the one with the highest bid at the moment, and therefore in my opinion is newsworthy.

I Agree, Undeveloped just making it a bit difficult to see and participate in the auction.

I agree that it does seem strange to have to register just to view the auction list, though I agree with the idea of requiring double authentication to bid - at the minimum.

Thanks @TheBaldOne , I removed my question just incase. I received the one bid so far on one name...did you get any bids yet?

2
•••
Not sure I am allowed to say under the interpretation of the rules regarding 'inappropriate advertising' (>:(). Let me just say I am happy enough :) , though I have competition for those I am bidding on. :(

OK I just posted a link to this thread in the main hacks thread, most likely we will get more interest if members can find this new thread.

This auction is of interest to me and if we have multiple members participating as sellers, the advertising is inadvertent. Since I am NOT a seller, if you want to send me the updated list by PM and I will post, if that is within the rules, I am happy to do so.

The undeveloped format is difficult to follow, I did sign up just to watch this event, at least it only took a day to get approved. I am disappointed there is no watchlist or favorites function. For now, I am saving my individual link favorites in my browser bookmarks, and that is clunky yet works.

I am certain we have had threads in the past about auctions where multiple members were involved in both selling and bidding.

Hi Guys,

Just a note regarding our auction platform. Auctions account for less than 5%, if not less, of our main business.

We developed our auction platform solely for the Domaining Europe Auction that we organized in 2016 and 2017. Since we aimed to only auction high-quality names like whiskey.com a lot of sellers requested us to prevent anyone from just viewing the auction and Google indexing bids and so on.

That's the reasoning behind the current platform design. Since we're going to stop hosting auctions in 2018 we're not that keen to further develop the platform.

We currently only use the auction platform for themed auctions like the Emoji Auction & Domain Hack Auction per seller requests.

The next and maybe the last auction will be a crypto domain oriented auction so feel free to submit names via our support channel or your account manager if you're interested to participate.

Take care,
Reza

That is a pity about stopping the auctions, but if it is based on sound business principles then there is no other course of action open for your company.

Oh, and thanks for taking the time to explain the reasoning behind the registration process. :)
