Namecheap announced the news yesterday on twitter saying that it's counting down to see the incredible savings and fun surprises starting 10.10.2017

As I am looking at my domain list, I also notice a domain that I transferred out 3 weeks ago STILL IN MY ACCOUNT! .
Yeah, I find it annoying too,
I guess they hope you don't notice and pay for renewals :xf.rolleyes: Similar bullshit that 1and1 is pulling.

For all it's faults and horribad UI, at least nCheap has really good customer service and they have some super low promo prices.

@AGAME - Ghost Records are common, not just at nCheap, they can fix it with a ticket yet it is super annoying after transfer to have to verify the domain was removed

Can you say which registrar does this too? - not a single one I've used shows transfered out domains (namesilo, godaddy, name, dynadot, enom.... )
I think you agree that we shouldn't have to contact them each and every time. There's no reason not to fix it - unless they want to trick users into paying for service they don't provide.

I definitely agree or else I wouldnt be renewing names there, but last evening's experience was not good. It was late so I didnt even try customer service because I figured by the time they get back with me the promo would be over.

I have to email them to get rid of that ghost record though. I had to a month ago with a domain that I didnt want to renew also.

My experience is likely because I am a professional transfer hopper, so I transfer more often and among a wider number of registrars. Ghost records happen often enough that I have a template to send support LOL It's happened for me at name.com,NameCheap and multiple times at DomFam - Domain/MyDomain/NetFirms/Dotster

Fully agree we should NOT have to contact the losing registrar @bluebox, it is less likely to happen if the registrar keeps their records updated.

Here's my template in case anyone wants to have it on hand
Subject: Domains transferred out - still showing in control panel

Please remove the following domains from account foobar
They were transferred out to another registrar but are still showing in my control panel.

*******.com
*******.net

Thanks and have a super day : smile :

@AGAME - the 20% FCDISCOUNT is still working, just checked now. So you have time to ask support to fix it using that coupon since your issue is really strange and shouldn't have happened anyway, I'd ask for courtesy account credit for your hassle too.

And no worries if you're over it, IO is just rarely ever on sale so I view it as a good deal, almost $7 savings per domain. If the sale worked for transfers, I'd have done all mine. As it stands, I'll be swapping between Moniker and NCheap yearly anyway, Moniker Reg/Transfer is $31.99 but renew is $35.99. The IO system was way better before the switch to Afillias you could pull domains to nic.io and float them, then "transfer" back to same registrar : grin :

I wonder what will they offer on black friday - I don't think there will be $1 transfers anymore.

Probably just cheap nGTLD or crappy extensions like .biz or .us (stuff that already have regular $1 promotions)

Thank you! $7 for those renewals adds up! I appreciate you letting me know!

I agree. After the switch a lot has changed with .IO names. I used to get daily offers on my domains and then after the switch I rarely get any. I think people were looking at the WHOIS and the email address is no longer being shown. May as well have privacy set.

Thanks again!

I have to say been using namecheap for a long time and they presented some very little bugs but no big deal, plus they have awesome support and they resolve problems fast.

They also have the cheapest .io price.

i am not fan namecheap at all.
they are just that.. cheap.
the interface is awfully designed and super slow.. plus some bugs.
the only good thing about them is support.
which is obviously not enough to make worthwhile registrar to be with.

jmo

cheers

Well, I gave it a good try. Their system is just horrendous. Content jumps all over the screen - but that is the least of the annoyances. Like I said earlier, I added a new credit card the night before and tried to renew 3 .io domains. The order failed. I didnt know why and could not tell why. Well, tonight after some digging around in their system and trying to renew those three domains again, I see that my new credit card is using an old billing address. Probably the reason for the failure. It wont allow me to change it on the fly at the time of the order. Errors out. I know that I added the new card with the correct billing address but I figure I better check the card.

How on earth does one do that? In fact, where the heck are my old orders? Cant find anything. Should not have to resort to a knowledgebase or live chat or create a support ticket just to find my old orders, my credit cards, etc. Really pathetic. Eventually I break down and do that. Here is what I found:

How can I update my payment card details?
https://www.namecheap.com/support/k...=article&contentid=9863&categoryid=7&rating=1

Great, it says go to Account > Profile I do that and it shows me a list of my domains. Doesnt matter if I use Account > Profile from the top menu or the side menu. BOTH show me my domain list only.

At this point I am nearly 2 more hours into this - and to save what? $21 Thats $11.50 per hour. My time is worth much more than that. What a waste. I hope NameCheap is following this thread. You've got serious issues if people cant do simple account maintenance or, first, even FIND things like orders and billing. The interface is a mess. How on earth does it use an OLD address with a new credit card is beyond me.

I will transfer my domains out as they expire.. Any price increase would be OK so long as I dont waste my time. Money can be recouped but time can never be.

Thank you @usernamex I realize that you tried to help and I do appreciate it.

@usernamex - just wanted to let you know that I finally got the renewals to go thru! My wife reminded me that $21 is $21. ;) So as of last night late (eastern timezone USA) the discount code still worked for 20% off

Hooray! Glad you got it sorted @AGAME

Next time, ask your wife to remind you to contact support sooner : grin : My guess is they might have helped you solve it in less time. My threshold for annoyance is about 20 minutes, then I get support involved. Of course it depends on the registrar but in this case one of the few benefits that NameCheap has is excellent support.

The display issues I thought were just me, firefox/linux, the fonts are all screwy, disproportionate to the graphics and it makes navigation really difficult. They need to fix it

Anyone else that successfully uses the 20% FCDISCOUNT coupon, keep posting, or if anyone tries to use it and it DOESN"T work, update in this thread, thanks!
