Dropcatcher Domain Locks

Hi guys,
I'm just trying to sort out the domain locks that are applied after a domain is successfully captured by a backorder service. What I really want to know is how soon I can sell a domain name after it is captured.

From my understanding, Pheenix has a 60 day lock after the initial domain is registered. But I may be able to push the domain name to a newly-created Pheenix account. Can anyone confirm this?

Dynadot has a 15 day lock. Not sure if I am able to push to another account during that time period.

Godaddy has a 60 day lock after winning an auction, but I can get around that by pushing the domain to the buyer's account.

Your feedback is much appreciated!

It depends on how the domain was 'caught'.
New registration: 60-day lock
Prerelease: it's not a fresh registration, just an old domain name reassigned to another user... so there is no lock. It depends on the policies of the registrar. The registrar may apply an auction lock to protect against a credit card chargeback, or to give the previous registrant enough time to renew the domain (thus it's taken away from you).

If you look at the whois record and see it's a new reg, you know the 60-day rule applies. That is for gTLDs and certain ccTLDs. Fortunately, many ccTLDs are not subject to that pointless rule.

So every domain name that is caught is subject to a 60 day hold, no matter which dropcatcher is used?

Yes, it is an ICAAN rule. https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/name-holder-faqs-2012-02-25-en and applies to all ICAAN-Accredited Registrars. Whether all accredited registrars adhere to the rule, I don't know. Most registrars do allow a push between accounts with the same registrar. Some do not, I know of some that will not push without what I consider to be severe monetary restrictions

New registrations or new transfers are locked for transfer out for 60 days (way too much in my opinion).
Some marketplaces do not have problem with this, eg sedo you can sell it same day, then they guide buyer to open an account at the registrar name is, and firstly you push at their holding account, then they push to buyer (it applies for big registrars where sedo has account)

TDNAM usually need to transfer the name at buyer's godaddy account so you need to wait 2 months, but communicating with buyer and support can also do a push at foreign registrar (personally did it some times with premium .tv that can not be transferred to godaddy in any way)

Does anyone know if Namebright allows a domain name to be pushed to another NB account within the 60 day period?

Support over at Namebright confirms that domain names can be moved to another NB account even in the first 60 days.

Domains caught at Pheenix can also be pushed to new accounts in the first 60 days.

If Namejet catches a domain name, then it is up to the winning registrar's transfer policies. It sounds like Enom does not allow account pushes for these caught domains.

I'd appreciate any comments or experience with Enom and Namejet account pushes.

There is a 15 day lock if you buy a domain through the expired auction, but there is no lock (other than the 60 day lock)for a dropcatch.

You can NOT push a domain you got through the auction until after that 15 days has passed. You CAN push a domain you got through a drop.
