Escrow Just Ruined My Transaction... After So Much Pains Getting Buyer To Pay

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I do not know what the job of an escrow company is if not to secure buyer and seller.

I started a transaction being with the help of a Namepros member here and after so much pains to get the buyer pay, they finally did about 48 hours ago.

I woke up this morning to a devastating email as shown below. I am a Nigerian and so what? Your job is to secure funds to avoid any mishap. This is where Sedo and others are better. After this, depending if my other transaction goes through or not, I will have to close my account at Escrow.

It is unbelievable that Escrow didn't notify me of any rejection even while i was verifying my account some months ago... Then tell me what is your DAMN job?

Escrow has locked my account... i can no longer log in.

Please what is the meaning of this? I have a pending transaction with them and no news of whether that will go through or not.

Bros, there are better alternatives. I got the same mail when I tried to verify my account with them. They provide poor services, so why are you worried?
You made a mistake of using them in the first place. We have all been warned to stay away from them. If any buyer insist on Escrow.com, kindly walk away bro

I am working with a broker bro. Left for me, I would have used another alternative. Escrow sucks. I had verified my account and nothing of this nature ever came up...

Wtf??

This is ridiculous... absolutley unacceptable. How the hell can they verify your account and have no issue but then as soon as you want to actually complete a transaction after you have invested blood, sweat and tears into closing the deal all of a sudden they don't accept transactions from you country???

They "appologize" for the inconvenience?? WTF!!!! Their appology doesn't pay the bills nor does it make up for the lost time and effort you put into the deal.

@Jackson Elsegood
@Mauli Fry

Really guys? is this how you conduct business? Escrow has officially become a joke!

Some time ago I have closed my account myself and don't plan to return.

I'm becoming convinced that the best sale and transfer method is a registrar push following an account payment. Name Silo offers this, and I'm sure other registrars have similar services.

Payoneer Escrow is a damn good option.... even more so because @Brandon Abbey is active on the forum and would be able to assist if issues come up.

I've had a chance to speak to the Seller and Broker in this transaction. Without going into too much detail as I don't have their permission to disclose their personal information under our terms of service we do not accept transactions that require payment into Nigeria https://www.escrow.com/support/faqs/what-countries-does-escrowcom-support

Although we are not able to transmit money into this country, myself and the team have put ourselves at the full disposal of the Seller and Broker to assist in any way we can.

@Jackson Elsegood - Good to see you guys have taken some action into trying to assist both parties.

@jideofor - Hope you are able to get some sorta resolution with this

Good on you for jumping in on this. Absolutely, positively, completely stupid that he went through the entire process months ago with no issues or red flags and when the need to utilize the service came he was rejected. Yeah, he probably missed some fine print somewhere because he didn't click on the right thing because it is buried somewhere but that should have been made known to him in a short time from the staff when he went through the process of verification.
I have seen nothing said in my short time doing this to instill any sort of confidence in anyone wishing to use your service.

@Jackson Elsegood People from any country which you can't pay to must be told at the moment they create an account. Not everyone goes through the FAQ, I was shocked and checked asap whether my country is included or not. Why make your customers go through the trouble?

Come now Jideofor. You suggested Escrow.com to both me and the buyer. I did not force that on you in any way. Also you mentioned we had a lot of trouble getting the buyer to pay, when actually she paid within hours of the transaction being approved by you. She can not pay before you agree to terms.

Regarding Escrow.coms handling of this case, I only have one miff left. That their automated signup form does not automatically reject Nigerian residents at Tier 1 verification status. This would have saved me a lot of hassle since the buyer already was weary of purchasing this domain from a Nigerian gentleman such as Jideofor. Its not hard to implement. It has been standard in online casino forms to reject certain nationalities for more than a decade.

@Jackson Elsegood you thanked me for my suggestion of implementing this. But I think you should take it as more of a "must" rather than a "nice to have".

EDIT
Exactly what Haris said above.

Okay good to know, escrow.com will not work for Nigerian buyers. What about dn.com ? My Chinese buyers have paid me using dn.com wonder if they accept Nigerians?

Just wait till they come out with a blockchain solution for this problem.

I'm not smart but I thought.

"If blockchain works like this.

Transaction happens. Bitcoins go in a "block" and get locked up and sent down a chain and only way to open is mining.

Fair enough but what if for domain transaction since domains are a digital product technically. Bitcoins and domains were put in a "block" and sent down the chain?

Once mined block is opened and bitcoins go to seller and buyer gets domain and is transferred to their registrar.

Effective the blockchain becomes the "escrow" the middle man.

The "process" of transferring a domain is technically a domain " in transit".

I wonder if there is a way to make this happen? It would eliminate the hassle of finishing up a deal.

Either way Good luck Jideofor hope you sort things out.

I have lots of bitcoin, since 2013 or so, but blockchain is just where I store them, they just go there there is no way to stop the transfer once initiated, I don't see the relevance or application to an escrow situation.

It may well be that the broker in mentioned transaction had little or no choice and elected to use escrow.com since Payoneer does not yet offer brokered transactions?
@Brandon Abbey : please correct me if I am wrong...

It would make sense to implement support for brokered transactions at Payoneer and asap. Moreover, an optional extended mode (buyer, seller, buyers broker, sellers broker) will sometimes be useful.

This would also help other businesses, lets say domainagents @DomainAgents , to continue operating normally. I, for example, do not even bother anymore even to open occasinal emails from DomainAgents, since, last time I checked, they sent successfully finished negotiations to escrow.com exclusively, as they are paid by escrow.com (or are supposed to be paid).

Too much ilegal transactions and criminal business related with Nigeria.
This is not Escrow fault, this is too much criminals making thier ilegal business, buying with stolen credit card etc.
I live in Spain and work as IT support, and 80% of nigerian costumers have a loooong lists of false credit cards numbers, false ID scans in thier hard drives.
80% of them bring stolen computers or mobiles to fix or unlock.
Escrow just try to protect thier costumers, in this case you just lose money your never own, but it could be ilegal transaction where buyer could lose his money, so Escrow cancel it.
Your country is one of countries with high risk and too much services avoid make deals with it.
Sorry, but this is a sad reallity.

Will you take your stereotypical crap elsewhere? Am I buying something in this case or I am selling? 80% of Nigerians my ass. This is how you guys over hype things as if your countrymen don't steal, do not defraud...

Hi Tony,
Payoneer Escrow does support broker transactions and you can have multiple brokers if needed. We also support transactions involving Nigerians. I would expect if you asked DomainAgents to settle your transactions through Payoneer they would have no issues doing so. If we can help you in any way just drop me a note - [email protected]
All the best,
Brandon

Spot on dude!... this is already in the works. I know of a few people working on blockchain based payment gateways. So this could become a reality soon :)

I just explained the real reason of Escrow cancellation.
You can have another opinion, but this is what Escrow think and this is what happened.
