domain Pricing query for .co.uk domain

Is the name generic? Are there any TM issues? Was the .co.uk free to reg at the time they opted to buy the .io?

Good points Coldtrigger.

• The name is applicable to a small handful of end-users, is two words amalgamated into one (eg. agriculture finance = agrifin), but is brandable
• No TM's registered by this company
• The domain expired yesterday, it had been taken for the last 8 years +, I hand reg'd it

May also be worth noting that the Director is an ex VP at a large financial institution, and I imagine he has invested a lot into this new business.

You know, there are an awful lot of .uk catchers out there who are really on the ball when it comes to all manner of domains. Chances are if the domain had any value then you wouldn't have stood a chance hand registering it.

It maybe possible you picked up something that many others missed, without knowing the name I can't tell you if it has any value but please feel free to PM me the name if you like.

Hi Dave, thanks for the post.

I like to think that I'm pretty on the ball - granted I did not back order this, however I reg'd it within minutes of it dropping.

I knew it had value prior to it dropping, but I did not know the potential investment from the end-user into the business.

I'll PM the name to you now.

Without registering the .uk as well it is probably worthless.

I've registered the .uk also.

The name may be unusable without triggering an actioin for "passing off". Who owns the .com?

I'm not familiar with the term passing off I'm afraid - assuming TM restrictions related?

The .com is owned by a US company.

From my interpretation, which could be wrong, so please correct me if I may be - I have no ads on my page, so there would be no potential misrepresentation or gain by utilising any traffic that may come by his target audience stumbling across my domain.

So I should be fairly safe?

I have actually contacted the Director already, I appreciate it is best to wait for inbound enquiries, however due to circumstances, I'd like to move things along.

I'm going to send you a PM, I'd love your feedback regarding my landing page - it'll just be for one of my other domains.
