Creating a WP Site/Blog rather than parking?

Hi,
I have read a few threads in this forum, most refer to parking not making as much as it used to or not doing well at the moment.

Would it be worth creating a wordpress blog or site and adding content or using a news finder script to add posts and then add adsense, amazon affiliates etc?

Using a reseller or multi domain account I can create multiple wp sites. I don't have hundreds of domains so for a small time owner do you think this would work?

Edit: This long thread from a few years ago seems to indicate mini sites would violate adsense terms.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It's really difficult to rank sites these days. If you can't rank, you won't make anything. If you won't make anything, 20% will be $0. Freelancers know this, I doubt they will work for a profit %. Most would want a fixed pay.

WProbot won't make you money. It's not easy.

Yea I already found a handful of freelancers.
These people are always desperate for work. They know its hard to find any opportunity these days.

You need to find " one man " operation. Real freelancers not a company of freelancers.

I used to buy domains with load of backlinks but then i just ended up with a bunch of crappy names that forget to drop. I build backlinks so generally worry more about name itself unless a 250k pops up..

Useless content with loads of back links can make traffic just redirect it. I don't buy domains for back links anymore but would make the exception for loads.

I've set up a few different sites for domain sales platforms on my own hosted Wordpress (to avoid Efty monthly costs and limitations) - testing to see what might work best. Adsense revenue is about 46 cents for the past week ... but the end goal is to sell domain names, which I've been able to do with these sites. My latest site is http://www.jagdomains.com - simple, straightforward Wordpress site. Responsive to mobile. Could easily add a blog or articles. Each domain name has its own landing page ... and I've set up each url to forward to their respective landing pages.

Frank - no offense, but Adsense looks at what the user has been recently browsing.

I was looking through a few other threads and found dub.io. I signed up and sent over a test domain to see how it works. I seems to be similar to what I wanted to do but it using a simplified page/site to grab news and snippets from other sources and list them neatly on a page. Having only just set it up today, it looks interesting. There are also options to add custom pages. Looks interesting. Might consider this for some sites and set up blogs with social media accounts for other sites.
How do you guys track the effectiveness of a site, google analytics stats?

I don't expect it to be easy, I have had some affiliate sites going for a year with Amazon, no traffic and very few sales but it was my introduction to wordpress and affiliate plugins.

I have had domains sitting in my account for 10+ years doing nothing - no landing page, no advertising. Might as well get started with something now :)

Interesting. How dub.io monetize themselves? Is there a catch?

What you're describing is web developing, which is fine. But you need to decide if you want to be a web developer or a domainer.
Why, can't be both :)

I kinda like the whole idea

I'm building Amazon affiliate sites on some of my names. Not so long ago I sold one of them here on NP for $420, which made some $150 ish in a few months. Another that has been built in March, made $300 in 100% autopilot. The key is to sell rather expensive products, because Amazon's 4% revenue share is a joke.

The only problem is it's extremely time consuming, and requires a lot of patience (which I don't have when it comes to development), so one site can be done in a week or two or even more.
Tho I used to play with the idea if my entire portfolio (around 100 names at this point) was developed out with the same quality as those 2 I mentioned above, how much money it would make?

If you are not time billionaire, or have a daily job it won't be easy.
So outsourcing can be a good idea BUT...

... it sounds simple, most likely not. When you gonna not only heard it from somewhere but done it yourself, I'm interested to hear your experiences.

hey Trent have you got any examples of Amazon affiliate sites we can check out?

I was reading this for sometime: https://nichesiteproject .com/amazon-affiliate-sites-niche-site-process/
It's not easy as it seems. Also lots of competition...
PS: I'm not affiliated with this blog in any way.

That, was a good read

wowww though so much to go through - I suppose you move up the scale and each time you get higher and earn a greater revenue stream, you use that to hire out freelancers to carry out the rest for you, I guess that'll make the work easier and allow you to run multiple at once :-,

How do you mean? Surely an exact match domain is worth so much, and then with all this additional is worth a lot more?

I believe the thread is not about increasing a domain's value rather than alternatives to parking.

Pretty interesting thread though. Thanks to all contributing.

:xf.smile: Oh you can do both. Just gotta realise that after putting in that sort of effort into developing a domains landing page(s), you're more a web developer than pure domainer.

My approach is simple. While waiting for offers for my domains (which may or may never come), I sell ad space on the domains' landing pages. This covers the yearly renewal fees - my minimum objectives.

If a visitor is interested in the domain, he/she clicks a link and then taken to my domain marketplace - with a second landing page for the domain. For example, this domain: http://pricevibe.com

looks great

when adding to cart
I get this

{"status":"invalid","msg":"B01BE8WIBU : The item you specified, B01BE8WIBU, is not eligible to be added to the cart. Check the item's availability to make sure it is available."}

I like it, very smooth and easy use

Is there anything in particular you look for when picking up domains/niches to build up?

AFAIK, exact match domains used to rank better before, but now google has changed it's algorithm and exact match domains do not affect ranking as much.

Why are you advertising for advow.com on your domains instead of showing ads from their ad network?

Thanks, I'll check it out. It had a design change last week, so it is still under development.
