Howdy,

I am looking for strong alternatives for stand-alone email hosting for my website. I currently have a VPS which is used for both website and email, but am planning to use a CDN soon and it is advised that having my email on same server as the website will ultimately still expose my ip because of the mx records, making it easy for malicious people to simply ddos it directly instead of bumping heads against my cdn. So, now I am looking at what is a good solution to separate the email server from website server, where I can use for multiple emails addresses based on a single domain and which is reasonably priced and not likely to have emails be marked as spam etc due to bad usage by others. I looked at GD, and not sure if workplace option is sufficient, and not so keen on doing the office 365 option (but open to reviews).

Any reviews on Google Suite? I see that I can set up multiple aliases for receiving email, does that work for SENDING as well or would all outgoing be routed through the primary email address?

Other options, with a good webmail interface and IMAP option? I don't need anything except email hosting, since pretty pleased with current website host etc.. Thanks in advance for any and all constructive discussion and tips!

I am very satisfied with Fastmail (www.fastmail.com). Works great on both laptop and mobile, and you can use your own domains and create unlimited aliases (for receiving) and identities (for sending).

It is very fast, also when you search through thousands of old emails.

Not free, but really worth the price I think.

Was just about to mention fastmail as well.

thanks for the quick suggestion! and 2 at once for the same option is certainly persuasive! Any feedback on delivery stats, ie the ip(s) used and whether emails are marked as spam/junk etc?

I don't know much about the IP stuff, to be honest. But I only get a little spam, and genuine messages are rarely marked as such. You can adjust the spam filter as well.

thanks, i meant more on the outgoing end, ie how well your emails sent are received. even with my vps i noticed a lot of emails going to spam or junk, which i really want to avoid. so a good ip/range, set spf records like i can through vps (looks like setting spf records at fastmail is provided which is great) and anything/everything else that someone might recommend to help with security, deliverability etc.

So far fastmail is looking like a great option, and wasn't aware of it so THANKS! was close to pulling the trigger and using google suite but a smaller, independent and yet secure and reliable option is preferable. if no other strong alternatives are suggested soon I will probably go with them, price is reasonable enough.

Sorry, don't know anything about that. But Fastmail certainly has many features.

I used to use Fastmail's free plan untill they shut it down earlier this year, not with my own domain but with their .fm domain, and I can say only good things as well.

Apart from that, Zoho is also great option, I have been using it regularly, and I recently have seen several our partners using Yandex.ru for their business mails - I have delivery and read receipt options turned on, and when they arrive, I see their mail is actually hosted there.
