I would not get to excited just yet. I could be 3-5 years (if at all) before we see anything real and they may not look anything like the patent.

There will be a day when all these glasses look like sunglasses or even normal clear glasses. You will not know what's going behind the lenses I suspect, yes there will be a timeline but eventually the tech will get smaller and be implemented to "normal" eyewear

I believe that has been a given for some time now. At least they have been telling us that for the last 10 or more years. But the question is when. Just following it as it develops.

In 10 years or so, just about anyone can have 'robo-cop' / 'terminator' intellectual ability because of advanced data aq in those devices coming soon.
And the powers that be will have access to all of it collected by everyone mostly unknowingly.
It's not he AR/MR stuff that is so remarkable,
the biometric and location data collected by everyone's cameras for it that's packaged with it.
Who you associate with and where you frequent will be public record thanks to your use of it.
You will actually be telling everyone when and when your friends are present.
For most, this is not a fact yet. But soon will be. You won't see it, just the corporation's and gov.

They loose any desirable functionality without it. It will also be "part of security" many times.
Terms of service allow them to share with undefined partners.
Just watch how these new WMR Goggles work when they are released for a clue.

I may be a bit ahead of everyone's understanding of this, but keep your eye's on it. As it will you.
All of the existing photo's/video's on Facebook, Snapchat and others have already been used via biometerics by the FBI, NSA and corporate US in creating a database of biometric links.
The new cam systems for AR just make it so much more accurate, you can bet on the accuracy..
Apple will probably be using it for it's pay system when i8 comes out.

...LOL... Well when these cams are used to see and 'identify' who is going into political offices and bars and porn shops... and who your friends are that you meet-up with... you get the idea now I hope.

The problem is everyone will not have access to the extensive databases except the privileged few
Gov & Corporate's and the hackers to know what is being used and how.

I've got HoloBoxing and HoloBoxer. I regged PersonalVRTrainer last year but let it drop the other week. Too long, but certainly will be used by somebody eventually.

I actually like PersonalVRTrainer, even being a long tail. Your right, it will be used by someone down the line.
It may be a few years, but I can see end use. But the matter would be how much would someone pay for it and I guess that just depends on end-use name saturation/demand in 3-5 years.

If you watch DNJ sales report, quite a few 3 word names make it in the $ 2500 area.
Something all the veterans 10 years ago told me would never happen.
I knew it was just a matter of numbers and time. But you have to be prepared to hold them.
Everyone seems to expect near instant results anymore. Just does not work in the name game.

In any case, I still have my doubts how big 'Sports names' will be for VR, but I have my hopes.

Yes, now they include AR and MR with the VR and call it XR.
Since this was suppose to be a way for Soft dev's to meet up with hard dev's,
Imagine the confusion when you are not sure if the person you are talking to is AR only and you dev VR ???
Well, I guess it's all XR just the same only different !
