Yes my friend of course! I have calculated pretty much 10-12 different juicy metrics from 2-3 different source and trying to expand it's base for man should not rely on a single person to gain the truth.

As @boker :

But my friend this is only scratching the surface and it's not real time data. Wouldn't you like to have real time statistics of a marketplace before placing a bid?

It's just like placing a bet on a horse race without even reading the horse race booklet to understand more about the rider and the horse breed.

Would you share it? ( You can DM me if you do not want to do it publicly )

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

I am more than happy to do the later free of charge..

First of all, this is not mine. Second, I think that you can extrapolate and more or less, you will have roughly the same results in 2017...and the most important, at least regarding brandables, the data will not help you 100%, because we are talking about taste, something subjective . You will not find to many end users having the results of the data with them checking what's available. Most of my end user sales were against all data...it could be related to a nickname from the childhood, or something related to an ex, or to a game or movie he likes, or to just sound cool for him and not for the rest of the world. For example Krell, he has access at all the data he wants, but still hundreds or even thousands of rejected names sell outside BB and even some of the accepted one's sell for higher than BB price. At the end of the day I think that it's more about feeling in the first place, the data is just a bonus.

Thank you so much!

I will need to PM you to renegotiate as I didn't clearly understand the commitment that I am about to sign myself to.

@Dnbolt

Have you ever tried to calculate what the most sold ending letters are both for 5 and 6 letters?
I have always been curious but my excel & programming skills are close to zero
A O I E Y S U would be my educated guess

My friend, what percentage was skewed?

All of sudden STR is now dependent on other character lengths (products) ?:wideyed:

100% STR is pretty much abnormal and wouldn't be considered as an effective business insight hence looking at other next top STR in the rank.

You're effectively telling me that skipping the character length with 100% STR magically skews the data??

What we are trying to say that you can just ignore 18 character one altogether, since there is only one like that and no meaningful conclusion can be made based on small sample size.

If you did and removed that part, the chart would top at 20% and we could see more detail )

Can't make any promises :-D

Can we also remove 1L, 2L, 3L and 16L, 17L? We'll get range 2% to 16% and it will be better looking line as well...

Also, is this % for 1 year annualized or for longer period? Can't believe 1/6 4L sell every year.

Data is from a longer period.

It finally happened... after a year with 8 domains at BrandBucket, I sold one in the low $2,xxx range. I also sold one I bought for listing on BB, but they rejected it so I kept 100% of the $1,500 on that one.

I'm a bit more optimistic about these now!

is anyone a little bit worried or disappointed that brandbucket didn't release their 2016 yearly sales report like they did last year?
last April they released their 2015 annual sales, profit and avg sale per domain.
http://domainnamewire.com/2016/04/07/brandbucket-sales/

we're in August and nothing was released up till now, truthfully, i'm a little worried.

@Daren I don't know if I'm worried about it, but I wish they would be more open. However, they won't be. Whether for privacy concerns, or because they don't want people to see that sell-through rate has gone down, I don't anticipate them releasing that info anymore.

There's been many, many of us who have bugged them to share more sales data. They're well aware that people want to know that info.

@Nat Hunt you're right, they probably won't release any sales data and it's probably cause their sale through rate has gone down.

What other analysis should we look at?

Sorry if this was answered before but I can't seem to find it
I was wondering if I could check names on BB that I don't own or haven't registered yet ?

@Emmy101 @Mister Funsky BB has something called the Growth Program, where you can submit domains you don't own or haven't registered yet for $1 per domain. Then if they get accepted and you end up publishing them you only have to pay $9 instead of $10. You need to ask them ([email protected]) to switch your account to a Growth Program account, if you want to do that.

I was wondering if I could check names

Hi Emmy...my apologies if I mis informed you...I saw 'should' instead of 'could' when I read the thread. I was thinking you were doing a name search and I always suggest someone not do a search through anyones website as data has the potential to be mined.

https://www.brandbucket.com/blog/2016-domain-name-sales-roundup

We wanted to share some statistics on how the BrandBucket marketplace performed in 2016. (Yes, we are more than midway through 2017, but things have been quite busy as usual at BrandBucket.) Growth since our launch in 2007 has been steadily climbing, and 2016 was no different. Consumers and businesses all over the world now buy domain names from BrandBucket, and it continues to be a go-to resource for companies looking for a great brandable name. Let’s jump in:

Overall Domain Name Sales
  • 1017 domain names sold
  • $3070 average sale price
  • $2295 median sale price
Our average price continues to go up year-over-year, and even with more high-value sales than ever, the median sale price of $2295 (half of the sales were above this price, half were below) is higher than previous years, and consistently one of the best in the domain aftermarket space.

Sales Price Breakdown
  • 75 sales under $1500
  • 318 sales between $1500 and $2000
  • 404 sales between $2000 and 3000
  • 109 sales between $3000 and $4000
  • 51 sales between $4000 and $5000
  • 43 sales between $5000 and $10000
  • 17 sales over $10000
Of the 1017 domains sold, the bulk are in the $1500-$4000 range, which has proven to be a sweet spot for startups and entrepreneurs.

Buyer Behavior
  • 14.5% of sales were to repeat buyers
  • 2.27% average discount on listed price
BrandBucket continues to have a loyal following of buyers who appreciate the do-it-yourself-branding idea, the selection of names, and the service team behind the scenes. The number of sales that closed with a discount was higher than previous years, mainly due to more transactions in the higher price range, and older inventory that had not had a price adjustment in many years.

Seller Metrics
  • 238 unique sellers with a domain sale
  • 134 sellers with 1 domain sale
  • 37 sellers with 2 domain sales
  • 15 sellers with 3 domain sales
  • 51 sellers with 4+ domain sales
  • $2,063,088 paid out to sellers in 2016
These statistics are astounding, and the ones we are most proud of. Our community of sellers has never been stronger. We are also truly thankful for the BrandBucket team — customer support, sales and escrow, accounting, and Brand Ambassadors — that supports this community and makes it all appear seamless and easy.

Cheers to a great year!
