imho if you are going into website development, I believe that it is easier to start with a simple html/css site, rather than getting involved with j'script responsive sites.

I think starting with WP could be a good idea as people have created plugins for pretty much anything under the sun; there are also plugins that auto populate your site.

Wordpress is way overkill for a domain sales website. All that overhead, compared to PHP/HTML/CSS, is a burden for your website. It has also a lots of opportunities, to rip off the uninitiated. On the other hand, it also has lots of great looking websites.

I took it that the OP wanted to start a social networking site for mobiles. This is quite a complex project, and you need to understand the ways responsive sites work, because of all the different platforms in use at the moment.

If you are a beginner in development, I would recommend WordPress.
You can make sns with wp multisite and buddypress.

And it is also great as a landing page.
I created landing page with wordpress, since I couldn't make any good sale on sedo.
The main character of the site was set to .tel and .com was taken as a supporting role,
It worked pretty well on helo.tel
The number of inquiries increased dramatically.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Then, from what you say, Wordpress is the most widely used CMS on the planet. I've heard figures like something like 40% of the websites on the internet use Wordpress. It has a huge lead over it's rivals. It will be no problem to find a developer to assist you. You will be spoiled for choice. Both Good and Bad, as well as Experience and Inexperienced. You might even find a template at ThemeForest.net, which would be a huge saving against development from scratch. Best of Luck.

If you want to start a directory site, there are a lot of business directory scripts to choose from. Write down the features you need, the features you want, and start shopping. Some include a bunch of features, others you choose what you want and pay as an add on.
The best ones are not cheap.
