Not saying this is what happened, but don't make public the name that you are buying from expired auction before it hits your account.
In theory, someone might have liked the name and contacted the owner offering redemption fee plus small amount above.
Small chance, but worth waiting few days.
Purchase with a variety of end users in mind ,that you have researched ,one end user can be a problem ,if they say no to your offer, some domain or website owner sometimes do not understand the benefits of a good domain ,keep various options openIn an attempt to apply what I have learned . . .
Let's say there is a legtimate business up and running now. Lets say it is a funeral home business. How about MainStreetFunerals, and their website is MainStreetFuneralsGa.com. They are a funeral parlor in Georgia. They may or may not be on MainStreet. In fact lets say they aren't on MainStreet, but that is a part of their name. Would you purchase MainStreetFunerals.com with the intent to sell to them? Or is that too narrow, not enough end users?
This was just an example!
