Hello everyone,
I've recently bought my first two domains auca.net and jogger.us aged 12 and 11 years. I was planning to sell them and I've noticed on platforms like godaddy and sedo you can give more visibility or auction them by spending some money... My question is: is it worth it? Or shall I use it for domains that I will buy in the future with more chances of being sold at an higher price? thanks a lot!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just list them on Sedo, Afternic, Godaddy etc, its free, its not worth spending money to give exposure to .net and .us domains.

My advice is stay away from .net and .us names, focus on what names sell. Its a common mistake for new domainers to start regging weaker extensions thinking they can sell the name, this is not the case 99% of the time. Buy a couple of .com names and try and sell those,.

good luck

create a store of them and send out emails with the landing pages...email is the best low cost ad for your name.

In my signature I have a link to a store with some of my domains. That is one way you could do it. @toughdomains dot com you can set up a free store, landing page, and get some valuable stats. And it is all free, well for your first 20 domains. It is a great tool. Check out the link or the toughdomains.com webpage.

>us is a country code domain. It will not show up in search engines outside the USA. You must be a U.S. citizen to register a dot U.S. Keep the .net and hold it for a couple years. Do you want $100 for auca.net? Or do you want want $2,000-$3,000 in a couple years? I have been doing this for 30 years and I am giving you sound advice.

It costs $39 U.S. for a 7 day auction at Sedo. The market is not there yet for a four letter .net domain name. Bad bet.

This is complete rubbish. .US is perfectly shown outside the United States in search engine results... Currently, from India, I see this in Google:

Further, you do not have to be a US citizen to register a .US domain. You only need to show legitimate us via a US nexus connection or an authorized representative who'll fill in this role.

I am giving you sound advice.

Sorry, you're anywhere but near giving sound advice regarding the .US domains.

You need a decent amount of money to be investing in names. If you think you can flip hand reg names, you're in for a rough ride. And all those upgrades the listing sites have are just gimmicks. No amount of money is going to make someone buy either of your domains. they might buy it if you develop it with some good content.

Paid listing are simply money burners - from my personal experience. I did it with GD, Flippa ... still counting my loss.

@manfredo Unless you have a really valueable .com domain you shouldn't buy any upgrades. Rather invest this money in more quality names!
