advice "If you're not using it, I'd appreciate it"

I had one person ask if he could have a name for nothing, as he would have to pay a renewal fee for the transfer.

I may not have replied to that email.

As tempting as it is to be insulting, either ignore it, or reply politely. There are too many reported sales that started out low ball and turned into nice sales to take the risk of an insult, and the worst that could happen is no sale, which is no loss.

Thank you for your inquiry. Domain *****.com has a Buy it Now price of $XXX. You are welcome to make another offer

Depending, on the mood that I am in..my thoughts might be along that lines.

BUT my actions would be to see how much my parked domain made me in parking, and if less than $10.00, I would sell it. If dropped or try to sell domains that don't pay for renewals fees.

If the domain was making more than renewal fees, I would just ignore the email because the person just might be "testing the waters" (lowballing).

You never know the intentions of another person.

I really like that reply, I'd like to hear how he responds to it.

the general public may assume, because it's parked, that it is not being used.

as their presumption of 'usage', is a website.

if you inform them, that "parking domain names" is in fact, a viable usage for them, then your asking price may be weighed differently.

Great "pro-active" answer, (if I were to respond with your theme of answer), I would add a link for "how to park your domains" and also include that some people, do park their domains until they can develop it.

Just ignore. You are wasting your time with a sucked offer like this.

i might say, that i have plans to develop.

but i wouldn't try to inform them about how to park domain names.

you want them to stay focused on the negotiation.

imo...

The old me likely would have replied with a snappy or terse reply.

The new and improved me likely would just ignore the inquiry.

If the inquirer really wants the name it seems likely their follow-up inquiry with a better offer or a
" how much do you want for the name " inquiry might arrive in a month or so.

Tell him he can have the name for free, but there'll be a $5,000 admin fee for the transfer

My reply would be,

I appreciate your offer but I am still think the offer is to low for this domain. I will give it you for $xx (whatever amount you would like).

Replay me back if you think it's a good offer. I will glad to have business with you.
