Since when smth like xn--i-7iq.ws is shorter than X.com? This emoji trend gets very close to the "most expensive super top domain", sh*t sold for the price of gold and promoted as smth unique.

Are emoji domains available in other extensions besides .ws?

Sure, if you are writing xn--shdtfkk.ws than you are correct. Nobody will type that in.

But they WILL type this in...

in the address bar I see xn-sfadfsdfsdfs.ws, no emoji... If I want to copy paste the address, I have to copy xn--sasasfadfsdf.com and post it, no emoji... So, IMHO emoji is just an one-time link, nothing more. And yes, it's not the shortest, and never will.

Yes, a few but couple things to consider...
".WS" is the only extension that includes actual letters and ermojis within your domain.
GoDaddy supports only ".WS"
GoDaddy does not support those other inferior extensions
The other extensions are free regs regged thru Freenom and have strict guidelines like if you are not using it as a real live website they will take it back. lol

So, there is really only 1 true option out there for emoji domains now - ".WS"

I understand what you are saying when seeing the xn--etc, etc.ws but lets say this thread here was a very important thread and we needed to direct someone here, well look up in the address bar and this is the actual link...

https://www.namepros.com/threads/mo...-makes-the-record-books.1030704/#post-6262527

Ok directing someone here is horribly impossible unless you copy and paste all that crap and hope you get every last letter/number etc.

or

Lets say your site was about a puppy who is a star because of whatever, funny puppy short videos, and you owned puppy/star.ws If you just said, Go to Puppy/star.ws That is only 5 characters, A puppy, a star, a dot, and a ws. Simple, just type it in.

The xn--etc, etc would probably be 10/12 characters long. People will never be able to remember that and shouldn't ever want to. Thats the cool thing about emojis as or within letters for your visual and brandable domain.

Elon Musk wins in many more ways than that...lol
That man is pure genius.

But lets take what you said and dive a little deeper into that thought for a minute...
If you are branded as "X" then you will have worked for SEO with your website and social media, etc.
If your band name that is producing music videos is named X.
If your song name is X
If your images are X
If your product is X
If your services are named X
Yes, no matter what, you will be ranked up there on search for X.

You can now do the same thing with emojis.
You can search emojis in YouTube, Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc. etc. etc.

So there will be one day soon that kids first interactions with the web will be, not letters, but emojis.
They are searchable. They are being used in all types of Marketing campaigns right now as we speak. Open up your email now and if you get half as much crap emails from me, you will see Major Corporations are using emojis within their subject lines to capture our attention. Emojis are here.

People right now are using them to gain SEO for their particular brand.

So, yes one day when someone is searching for headphones they will not write headphones in the search, they will type in that one character on all keyboards, the headphones.

Just a quick example.

When that day comes there wont be "search" anymore, cause things will pop-up on our screens. Those future PCs will be able to communicate with our brains using telepathy.

It is becoming that way already...lol
Look at the ads that appear all over the place based on what product we searched a week ago. Those same products are coming up in all ad space whatever site we go to.
Crazy.

Searched for last week?

Ads are appearing based on what we searched for the last minute

You are right!
Think of all of the emoji people are typing into their devices every second.
I saw a twitter post about Facebook saying there were 5 billion emojis used everyday in their Messenger alone!

OK, now don't think this isn't already happening or isn't being worked on right now at least. I am sure based off of the emoji you are using most often, they are creating an algorithm to send out ad's directly correlated to the specific types of emojis you use.

So say you use the music note emoji all the time, they send you whatever afilliate ad's they have that have to do with music, (itunes, pandora, amazon prime music etc.) Pure genius if you ask me.

But it does work in our favour because the ad $ are used to buy multi billion $ tech companies and make that website or app available for free

I get your point, but my experience with the freenom domains is that having the domain fowarded counts as using it. That is only if you are using it for free. If you pay registration, you can do whatever you want with them. The reg fees were pretty low, around dot.com levels. I tried some hacks like MyYo.ga etc, but never got any interest.

Yes but there is more than one place to buy emoji domains not just godaddy. I think .to is a viable alternative to .ws

The day my phone has a 36 inch monitor and full size keyboard, I'll agree with you. Until them, everyone who does serious work on a computer will keep using them.

I believe .to will be the next step in emoji domains

Who knows? Since most of the 1-char. dot ws's are gone. And if you don't want to go into the ws aftermarket and you want to own some sort of emoji domain then you have to go down to another unproven extension that no major brands have used yet and promote the hell out of it and hope someone will bite. Maybe that one domain hack, TM regging/selling domainer struck a deal as a reseller with the dot to registry and now he will push dot to if he doesn't like dot ws, or felt like he got in too late and wanted to start w/just fresh cheap registrations. That is his prerogative...lol

Name dot com is great for buying. Ws and for getting the code needed to buy. emoji's in gd etc

Anyone want to list some alternative registrars that are emoji compatible eg where emoji can be typed in to a domain search box as an emoji that also generates the emoji domain name code but that also appears as emoji in a customer's domain name account as emoji and not the code?

Which is the best emoji whois?

Eventually a person will be able to use their phone on any screen anywhere in the world for free
