I have owned kvt.com since the early 90s when our family company was King Visual Technology. I kept it in the hopes that it would be worth something down the road. I have checked out estibot.com and domaining.com and they both come in at about $137k. Is that a reasonable number to expect or just pipe dreams being thrown at me?

I do see what you mean which was why I was leary but the difference between the search stats on say awj and kvt are night and day. However I also know that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Thanks for the input.

Another 3 letter .com was just sold for $100k, search here.

So all good, and KVT is a good combo.

first, basic distinction between liquidity and potential.

in the current auction aftermarket the floor price for 3 Letters is around 15K. It might sell for more than that depending on the various commercial uses and frequency of these letters. (since it has the letter v in it excludes it from the so called chinese premium cat. the floor price of which afaik is around 30K these days). that's regarding liquid value.

potential end user value: yes, 3L's sell for six figures and in some cases 7 figures (if i recall correctly qnb.com was reported sold to qatar national bank a few years back for 1M). But, this remains a bet till it happens and an eager enough end user comes along. If you plan to do outbound i.e. try and offer the domain to potential end users you should also take into consideration that chances of a six figure sale are less than it would be if someone knocked on your door.

good luck!

curious, have you received some offers on it over the years?

I have had several calls over the years. One from a broker that wanted to sell it for me and one from what I guess would be an entrepreneur that wanted to buy it cheap and offered $5k hoping I was not as worldly as some. But I have had no inquiries from what I would call true prospects like companies that have KVT in the name.

I was debating searching for a list of companies that have KVT in the name and direct marketing to them. I am a Realtor, a business owner and once upon a time an MCSE/Network Admin so this is pretty much in my wheel house. However I do recognize that domain sales are not my forte so I do not want to rule out someone brokering the deal if it yields me a larger net profit. My only investment was signing up and renewing the domain from the beginning.

google "kvt" and you will find a handful of potential endusers. mid $xx,xxx seems fair

Hang on to it, accept no less than 50k imo.

Dont give it away.

17576 possible 3 letter domains . . . id say its money.

I agree with no less than 50k

KVT contains two undesirable letters for western market (KV) and one for China (V), so cannot be compared to XYB, which is all Chinese prem.

It might eventually sell for high xx,xxx, but you might be willing to wait 5-10 years for that to happen.

Realistic price range 20K to 35K

You basically have three choices:

1) put it up for auction on NameJet or GoDaddy and sell it for a wholesale price (immediate cash probably in the $15k-20k range)

2) do some outreach to potential end users and maybe find a buyer for somewhere between wholesale and lower retail price (may take a good chunk of time and effort, and may or may not be successful)

3) keep waiting for an end user that wants it really, really badly to contact you and possibly sell for more than you ever thought possible (may take years before this happens, or it could happen tomorrow, who knows)

So really it just depends on if you need cash now or not. The choice is yours. Best of luck! (feel free to PM me anytime if you have questions or need advice)

I think considering the fact that you basically paid registration fee and then annual renewals.... you don't have alot of money invested in the domain and from your comments it seems to me that you are not in a hurry to sell the domain because of an urgent need of funds. If this is the case and if it was me, I would add the domain to a few of the market places (afternic and sedo) with a minimum price of $50k .. just test the water and see if you get any bites... after a while if you don't get any decent bites then consider getting a broker involved..

Also, you should remove the domain format from here on this thread... edit it to K/V/T/(DOT)COM

This thread will get indexed by the search engines and could jepordize the chances of getting the best price for ur domain.

Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..make sure you enable 2 factor Authentication on your registrar account (with whoever you have the domain registered with)

Good luck, oh and welcome to Namepros :)

Fast money ? $30,000 on a non chip LLL.com ... Is that what you pay or you have investors paying that much ... Because as far as I know the only people actually buying LLL.com are either Chinese or companies and companies are a long long wait
