That's great! I think it's so much better without www. when using a subdomain, have you considered this?

I'm just talking in general

www.apple.com
www.bestbuy.com
www.amazon.com

Some of the general public can be pretty clueless so I decided not to rock the boat right now.
It's been bugging me for years and it annoys me every time I see www.address.com advertised but some of the non techies don't recognize a web address without www.

I had to educate my mom and dad because they always enter www first

Like you, I am all for this going away but because my site does such a large volume I figured I would stay with the status quo for a while longer. Having it in the address bar seems to resonate with some of the older folks.

PS> I also registered shopmnm(dot)ca in case someone forgets to enter the first dot.

With a shopping site you can never be toooooo careful!

I see, FWIW, if you use a subdomain, keeping www. is not standard practice.

e.g.
https://support.apple.com

You'll see their redirect, www.support.apple.com

I think of www. being a bit like it's own subdomain.

OK, you got me convinced, I will switch on the weekend.

It's bugged me anyways so I might as well follow my peers.

@Richard Blair Thank you so much for taking the time to steer me in the proper direction on that one.
I appreciate it very much. (y)

I've got radiokuffy.com as well.

I make a good few thousand pounds about ten years ago by using third level names with the first dot removed.

I have
ity.us
ment.us

Haven't set any subdomains yet, but anything could be created from etern.ity.us to employ.ment.us ))

We do our own SEO and have had phenomenal growth over the years, but no ads, we rely on good service to grow our base.

Don't forget the redirect :)

All done.... and you are right... looks so much better.

Microsoft Edge only shows a lock and my website name.
Chrome shows Lock, secure, https://, website name
Firefox shows lock, https, then website name

For now Microsoft Edge has the edge with the cleanest looking address bar.
