Hi guys,

My name is Kevin, been following this forum for quite awhile, but joined because I wanted to share a news. I am a VP of product at Dub.io, which is a small tool that our team has been building for a few weeks.

We wanted to see if we can create a new (and hopefully better) domain parking tool. We've named ourselves "Dub.io" - nice and short. It works like this.

  1. Sign-up and you will get a website - to which, you can of course point your domain to. However, if you don't want to, that's ok. We will give you a Dub.io sub-domain.

  2. Once that's done, you can start "populating" the site with contents. This can come from RSS feeds, YouTube videos or just from the web articles. Dub.io takes care of automatically crawling these and inserting into your site.

  3. Each content can also be automatically tweeted to your designated Twitter account (this will usually bring more traffic and also get you some followers). You can also set up so that it's automatically posted to Blogger or Tumblr sites too.

  4. And of course, you can monetize it. Right now, we allow you to insert your own Google AdSense ads and VigLink code. The best part? You keep all the revenue generated from your sites. We don't take anything.

  5. Each site is all responsive to different screen-sizes. We try to include a variety of media types like images and related videos so contents are more engaging. Right now, we are in a "testing" phase, so everything is free! We would love for you to come and check us out and let me know if you have any questions.
Would love to discuss via this thread or if you have any questions, you can email me at hello @ dub.io

Thank you so much for your time guys.

@bumper

Firstly, thanks for trying out. :)

I did find a bug in our system where it wasn't searching for articles properly. Just fixed and it should start getting some contents for your site soon.

I checked out frankunsher.com about 10 minutes ago and it was taking me to a flippa sales page. I just tried again and it's not responding. So what I think is happening is that the changes you've made is still being applied. I'll give it another hour or so until everything settles down a bit.

In terms of your question in regards to nameservers and not being able to add other records - you're right. Using nameservers was an easier option than creating a CNAME, but I guess you let go of the full control of the domain in terms of creating other records.

What I need to do is to let you create an A-Record so that your domain points to Dub.io, but you can still control your domains.

Let me put that on the top of our list. It shouldn't be too difficult to get it done.

I think your site is now resolving. Will get back to you about the nameserver issue you raised soon.

Thank you for your prompt response and yes the site is resolving and showing various relevant articles.
What I would like to do is add a feed for selling fashion clothes and accessories to earn commission on leads or sales of dresses etc.
Is that possible? If so do you know where I could obtain such a feed?
I have verified domain in webmaster tools but at present it seems you can only verify one version so I have verified the version without the www.
However this means you cannot set preferred domain as non-www in webmaster tools, because to do that I would need to verify the www version in webmaster tools first and I believe your system is not yet set up to verify both versions. Maybe that is not important for parking revenue but it is important for any other live trading website.
Also, I have added the adsense advert, the vigilink and the yllix mobile advert and some categories and tags etc.
I quickly amended some of the category and tag entries, so that they were strictly for fashion clothes, because I made the mistake of adding Italian Designers and so the content included products like cars etc that are not desirable for this website.
It would be so good if I could have fashion goods and dresses displayed on the homepage.
I have been trying to sell some of my domains but if this works ok and provides an income in excess of renewal costs then best to keep them and add your websites to them, especially if I can add product feeds.
Will add my fishing domains next if I can add product feeds.

Hi @bumper

Dub.io lets you add any type of RSS feeds.

But in terms of what specific feed to add? That is totally up to you. I wouldn't have a clue where to start on obtaining fashion feeds to earn commission. :)

Let me investigate the Google Webmaster issue. Will get back to you.

@bumper

Just to let you know that if you have connected your domain do Dub.io, both "non-www" and "www" domain will work. Which means regardless of what you set up on Google Webmaster, both types of domain will resolve correctly. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need any further help.

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for the information.
I build Drupal websites only on a small scale and run my own small server, so I am accustomed to the ways of Webmaster tools.
It may help you to be aware that although both versions will resolve OK, simply by using 301 redirect code in the .htaccess file at root, the problem is Google needs you to choose which version you want to use for your website for a few reasons. First, if you have two or several versions of your homepage being http://, http://www https://. etc or index.php, index.html, index.htm Google and your website will have problems with duplicate content. Next Google needs to know which version will collect the stats and Google analytics etc. That is why in webmaster tools Google asks you to add every version of your website, so that you can verify each version first and then be able to choose and confirm to Google, which is the main one to avoid duplicate content and for correct analytics etc.
For instance, my websites are all https secure websites, so I have to verify 4 versions for each domain with Google, so I register the http://, the http://www, the https:// and the https://www in webmaster tools. Once each domain is verified, I choose the https:// as my main domain/website and according to google this is important. In addition, the drupal code in the .htaccess file will ensure all versions are redirected to the https://

Your web developer is likely to be far more knowledgeable than myself, so perhaps he knows things about webmaster tools and Google that I am unaware of and if so, please enlighten me.

Lastly, when I first set up Frank Usher, the Google adsense advert was displaying correctly showing a ladies dress business but since then it has been showing adverts for email and finances, which are unrelated to ladies fashion, so I went into webmaster tools and checked through everything, requesting a googlebot crawl and noticed there is no sitemap, which I believe is automatically set up in your system.

I have requested an RSS affiliate product feed for ladies fashion and dresses to display on the website, so when the feed is received and uploaded will the feed products show on the homepage, which is where I would like the feed to appear but at present all the news and articles appear on the homepage, so will they appear elsewhere?

Not trying to be picky here, but I noticed a couple of things on the site that makes it look a little unprofessional in my view.

I'm not a perfectionist by any means, I make my fair share of typos when posting on forums.

But, there are some typos on the site, an example being on the 'features' page. It's important for a site like this to look the part, and to me typos don't look good. Poor or no proofreading has been done.

Also, and maybe this is just me, but your pages frequently refer to 'contents' rather than content and it doesn't look right. Content can be used in the plural so doesn't in this context need the 's' on the end.

I also noticed that in the T.O.S. it mentions subscription plans, though I guess this is simply putting it in place if/when you decide to charge for your services. I understand that at the moment it is free to use your site.

Fees and Payment
By selecting a subscription plan you agree to pay Dub.io the monthly or annual subscription fees for the service and additional usage fees indicated for that subscription plan.

Having said all of this, I do like the overall format. It has a lot of plus points which make it different to most other domain parking companies I know of.

Thanks for the reply. I think it might be perhaps best if we take our conversation off this thread and I will contact you via email to exchange ideas. :) Hope that's ok. Once resolved, I will come back and write a summary for others who are interested.

@domaintrades

Thanks for taking your time out to check out Dub.io and double thank you for offering that feedback - we seriously need it!. At the same time, I'm sorry you found those issues - it's embarrassing. I notice those problems when I visit other people's websites, so I should be putting myself on the same standard for our very own! I'll get our team to make sure those things are fixed.

For our team's defense (:)), our homepage is a bit out-dated at the moment though and it was a hurriedly built landing page. But that's an excuse - we will update it very soon.

Hi Kevin,
I think your idea for domainers is a great idea and long overdue in the domain name scene, so I wish you and your business / company every success and it is my intention to use your system for some of my domains and see what transpires.
In the meantime, you are very welcome to email me about this project and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

Anyone successful with the VigLink setup?
I installed the VigLink on my test site but VigLink cannot detect it.

@NitroJunkie

Will check it out for you. :)

We will also be revamping and upgrading our "revenue" section on Dub.io next week - which will include more revenue platforms including affiliate marketing sections etc.

Hi Kevin,

Now the Viglink code in the dashboard disappeared and my site shows adsense even though I didnt enter adsense code. FYI

@NitroJunkie

Apologies on the VigLink issue - that's been resolved now.

How does the system determine which ad provider to use when one has set up Adsense as well as Yllix ?

BTW I cannot clean the previously entered Adsense code in order to use Yllix.

Hi @Asfas1000

Currently, we randomize between different ad-provider. It's not elegant, but it works.

But like I mentioned earlier, we are revamping our "Revenue" section significantly in the next week or two. This revamping will include

- a better explanation on which ads are displayed where
- a more selection of ad providers including "add your own affiliate links"
- control over which ad provider to display on which page (a bit later on perhaps)

We are also going to be analyzing in detail when users clicked on ads on which page - and hopefully that will help us better position ads.

Let us know your thoughts!

PS - @Asfas1000 We'll fix that bug on adsense very soon!

Thx Kevin, sounds good.

Also I have another problem, I have set up 2 domains identically, one works, one does not. I will PM you.

@Asfas1000

Your sites are now both working - I think it just took some time for the domain changes to propagate.

A few weeks ago I made an account and parked my domain. But somehow I find it not userfriendly and the layout is not very appealing. This is not negative towards the owner of the site dub.io but just my personal opinion.

This does not mean it isn't a good service :)

@Asfas1000 Please do let me know. This could be a number of things - browser cache, DNS cache etc.

@kingdombunniez Thanks for the feedback. We are trying very hard to make sure that our site is user-friendly + appealing. Would you be able to let me know what you found un-friendly? And which part of the layout you didn't like? Was it on the desktop? Or mobile? We do know that we haven't yet made our admin tools mobile friendly - it is on our list.

Please do let me know and I'll get our team to take a look. You can continue on this thread or send me a private message or even email me at "[email protected]" - happy either way to exchange information!

OK, tried again, still doesn't resolve properly for me.

I tried with Ctrl-F5 for a full browser refresh. The bottom bar shows it is reading from <domainname>.dub.io but eventually I am getting a blank page.

Today it is working, not sure if you fixed something ?

Now, the question is : if I have 2 sites and using Yllix on both, do I input the same ad codes ? It looks like I am getting irrelevant ads in the second site in this case.

@Asfas1000

In terms of what type of ads are being displayed - Dub.io doesn't have much control over that. That would be based on how yllix determines what ads to display. I imagine initially ads may not be relevant but as time progresses, I'm hoping yllix will be "intelligent" enough to start displaying more and more relevant ads - I hope that makes sense.

For my sites, I have been inserting the same yllix code into multiple sites. There is no requirement specified on yllix to make them different.

FYI, we just fixed and released the yllix ad component - which was a bit buggy in the past. But all yllix ads should now display correctly.

Let me know how you go! :)

Kevin,

First off, thank you for your prompt replies and actions for fixing/solving the issues we are facing. Your dedication is very important.

Now I've setup Viglink and YLLIX (not adsense yet, since I'm still not quite sure how G will react. I'm waiting for updates on this). So my question... is Dub going to randomize the ads from Viglink and YLLIX? Or both will be functional at the same time since each of those ad networks has a totally different underlying technology?

Another advice would be the translation of the newsletter signup popup. I volunteer to translate to some languages. I'll send you a PM about the languages that I can translate to if you are OK with that idea.
