According to Domainpunch.com, .TOP today dropped 437,000 names and are now below 3 million registrations.

Massive loss! Obviously mostly because of all these campaigns a year ago.

so someone likes top, and it is upsetting other people that he likes something that you don't? And then making fun of him? I don't think dot top is any good, but I could see some of the dot top domains doing ok. Regardless, what he likes doesn't offend me. Im not sure why it offends people or why they feel they can belittle another person?
There's a difference between liking something and believing in it, and obsessing with your belief to the point of delirium and non-stop justification. I think there are few people who enjoy having their threads or reading threads that are consistently spammed with a one-person view mantra.

BTW-- nons•top :)

I get that. And it does seem trollesque. But if that is how he really feels he is entitled to that. I can see a few dot top domains doing well, but not as a whole. If he is focused on those, he isn't buying domains I want, and the pool of buyers I want are probably not looking at his domains.

To each their own I guess!

Fair enough- and given the title of this thread, it's only natural for King of Tops to defend!

To be honest, I posted thinking this was the "What New gTLDs Have You Registered but Will Never Sell" thread, and then realized too late. Now all is lost, oh dear.

Sadly, .top is bad neighborhood.
I have never received an E-mail in .top that was not spam.
Even the registry has spammed domainers in the early days.
The .top spam even extends to this very forum :xf.frown:

Many postings here are seeming more like 'anti - .top - spam' to me.
In other words, 'spam(ing) against .top'.

But it doesn't help, .top = top.
No matter how often others 'spam' against it.

We all know that only one TLD can be the top TLD - like only one mountain can be the highest mountain.
So you better should deal with this new TLD - reality and start trying to accept that this one TLD can only be the TLD .top

Symbolic picture (click to enlarge it) for 'the highest mountain' as a symbol for the highest TLD, the TLD .top

.top = top.

It's a Chinese extension anyway. Its footprint outside China is virtually zero.

Yes, it's...
...a TLD created in China (like many other succesfull products).

But it doesn't matter from which country it is, .top is top.

This is the reason why no one should ignore that, 'top' is also...
...an english language word, which is used in many languages.
...an universal term which has a global usage.

If you like to reach the top of the highest mountain, you can start your journey from everywhere in the world.

Indeed, that's right. You're talking about .com, aren't you?

No, I am talking about the highest TLD in the history of TLDs.

What about the best TLD? Isn't it better than .TOP because it is .BEST? :)

the highest TLD is .pot so basically even when reversed .top is the highest.

.best is obviously the 'best' TLD but it doesn't change the fact that .top = top.

Also, 'top' is a 3L global term while 'best' is a 4L term.
Another reason why .top also tops .best in it's status.

Regardless the 'ignored fact', that .pot does not exist, that's really a great 'coincidence'.
pot / top = highest / highest

But the highest TLD is without any pots the TLD at the top.
Even if you watch it through a microscope,
.top = top.

Just how much pot does top have smoke to be that high?

once you get into "potent" stuff like 63L domains life will never be the same....

what about .better? will .better be always better even better than .best and .top?

Just zero pots.
You only can be that high if you buy the
highest number of top, 21, with the highest TLD, .top because this combination is the highest domain.

I am not sure if you can buy it - but at least you can try it.

That's true.
Especially if you own 63 characters in a combination which cannot be topped.
Life can be very exciting and it becomes even more exciting when you realize that .top = top.

.better isn't (the) .best but .top = top.

Top is top because top top top top top top top..........It is the same fluff over and over again.

Have you ever even sold one .top domain?

Nope... your brother owns the most expensive domain ever...

www.comcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcomcom.com

You just think your .top is worth the same amount :xf.laugh:

Just because top means top does not mean it tops the King of com! (n)

Yep. I got spammed about that domain back in April with a very long incoherent pitch.
The text was almost identical to the stuff Kingof.Top posts.

The other emails it was sent to were all under visible under CC. It was also sent to emails like [email protected] as well. Good luck there.

I wonder which brother came up with the brilliant idea first?
