Did .top just lose 430,000 registrations?!

According to Domainpunch.com, .TOP today dropped 437,000 names and are now below 3 million registrations.

Massive loss! Obviously mostly because of all these campaigns a year ago.

Why to renew if they may be easily reregistered for $0.66 or so???
Dropcatch competition is absent here or slightly higher than 0.

Really... but I don't remember any email from .top sender...
And almost all my daily spam is coming from the traditional TLDs...

It may surprise you to learn that you are right about this. Millions of .COM domain names drop each month. There are hundreds of millions of .COM domain names that were dropped and never reregistered. But .COM also gets millions of new registrations each and every month. This is something that most new gTLDs have not yet achieved.

NTLDstats' methodology is not reliable. Chinese dominated gTLDs are more complex in terms of usage. There is a high churn rate (non renewal) for some of these heavily discounted gTLDs.

No. While .COM features because of its sheer number of registrations, heavily discounted gTLDs are more lucrative for scammers and spammers because they pay less for a disposable domain name. Low registration fees always attract this kind of activity in gTLDs.

I meant heavy scammers which are copying popular banking / shopping sites etc.
I am sure they use .com only for such crimes.

so someone likes top, and it is upsetting other people that he likes something that you don't? And then making fun of him? I don't think dot top is any good, but I could see some of the dot top domains doing ok. Regardless, what he likes doesn't offend me. Im not sure why it offends people or why they feel they can belittle another person?

Personally, I am not making fun about anybody, but I am honestly bored with your endless and totally irrelevant promotion of your domain in almost every thread that you are writing in.

Should we all do this kind of promotion of one of our names? This forum would become a total mess in no time. Personally, I think signatures and these "showcase threads" are enough for promotion of individual names.

I don't know the intention you had when you started this thread about .top but I know what was my intention when I started to contribute to it.
My intention was / is to make you understand that .top = top.

Like anyone, I am allowed to reply in every contextual way I want.
My domain has the highest level of context to .top because it shows in the highest way that .top = top.
If others can't see my legitiamtion to share this highest .top context, in a .top thread it's maybe because they don't understand that .top = top. and so they probably think I am not legitimate to write about it.
But I am - no matter if you call it 'promotion'.
If you call it 'promotion', then every post of everyone is some kind of 'promotion' and at the end you would have to admit that with every of my replys here I make promo for your thread...
