What Is GoDaddy Doing To Release People's Money Held Hostage?

In 2015, I mistakenly sold a domain name with wire transfer as payment option and since then, the money has not been released to me under the guise that wire transfer has a threshold of $1000.

For the records, there a lots of people with similar situation and they have not been able to get their money out while the domain name that were sold have since be given to the buyer.

This is very wrong and something have to be done to give people what RIGHTLY belongs to them--their money

There should be a way to get this money to people and why will company as big as Godaddy use such excuse when other competitors, both small and big, don't hold your money for whatever reasons?

I will like to know what @Joe Styler has to say about this.

Thank you.

There should be a way to change payout option in this scenario. If my sales figure is less than $1000,i should have the option to switch to check. What if you don't sell more names or you quit domaining. Your money gone? Godaddy is loosing market to their competitors and is high time they realise that. Last week, I had to transfer a domain name to epik from Godaddy simply because a simple push cannot be completed in 5 days of serious struggle. The seller and I struggled to achieve this, calling their customer line almost everyday. They were busy shifting blame. Live chat disabled in some countries for no reason. Let me stop here.

I had no idea that the life chat was now targeted at countries... what a new way to evolve in 2017 Godaddy!

Even if they can't release the money, there should be a means to convert them to credit that can still be used to to purchase something on Godaddy.

This is why we recommended the use of payoneer as means of payment and I don't like companies who are too rigid to changes.

Payment thresholds and payment methods vary by country you can send the domain to me and we can look at the specific domain. But we do offer more than wire as a payment option and wire has our highest threshold, so it would be certain you could update your payment to another method of some kind with a lower threshold.

The domain name sold was just a $100 sale and at that time, the payment option selected was by wire transfer. I had no idea that the threshold for wire transfer payment is $1000.

Now, how can I get this money out? What available options or alternatives are available to me? Thanks.

I can't tell you unless you tell me the domain. You can pm me the info. I do not know your account info and the country we are paying, how much is owed in total etc.

That's interesting information. Does selling domains at Afternic work the same way? If yes, then do I correctly understand that in case when the seller sells three names for $500 each and chooses wire transfer payment option during each transaction, then the following scenario takes place?
1. The first name sells for $500. Grand Total in seller's account is $400 (taking Afternic commission in account). Payment is pending on $1000 threshold being reached.
2. The second name sells for $500 (some long time may pass since 1.). Grand Total in seller's account is $800. Payment is pending on $1000 threshold being reached.
3. The third name sells for $500 (some long time may pass since 2.). Grand Total in seller's account is $1200. The payment is disbursed.

Would be glad to hear whether that’s how this works. Actually having such a feature as the ongoing unpaid balance can be quite convenient for aggregating small transaction payments for some international customers – especially when wire transfer is the only viable option them. At the same time, the concerns shared above are also quite understandable (regarding having an option to change the disbursement type for the previously unpaid balance).

That is how it works but you can be paid via PayPal for instance without having to wait.
