I think it depends on the word and the potential market. I picked up a dictionary word from a drop list the other week.

I agree with Barefooted - I missed the comment about the extra letter.

I think it is not a dictionary word anymore if added random letters.

it totally depends. if it is hand reg it costs you a few bucks. so reg it, tell us name, and we can appraise it.

Don`t buy it if you have hesitation on its value

Sorry, but explanting.com has visions of burying your ex-wife. :) I can't see another use for it.

apologies - I've just Googled it. what an interesting bio-domain. I'm not sure how you could make money from it, but it could be an interesting bio fact site.

It maybe falls in brandables category rather than in dict. words (unless it is a person name or a word in another language.)
You can see how related words were sold to get a raw estimation.
For example, dominicad.com is an available name like one you described - you can see that DominicaProperty.com sold for $990, dominicapassport.com - $510, dominicanweddingco.com - $165 etc, so you may expect something average.

It all depends on which industrie, category lenght, language, popularity and much more elements.

Example: i had escuteiro.com it means scouts in latin languages like portuguese, spanish etc..

There is a big global presence of scouts and websites etc.. But no enduser or domainer was interested wouldn't even buy it for 5$, probably because it's more of a social category and much more reasons.

It doesn't mean the domain wouldnt sell for a good amount to the right buyer, but you can wait 15 years and the buyer may never appear.

I wanted to test this.. how hard it is to find such dictionary words .com

now this is one of my findings: It took me about 10 min to find a webster (one of the absolute most regarded dictionaries) word.. and this word was only 6 letters.
