Hello all,

I'm new to the world of buying and selling domains though it's something I've held interest in for a while now. I just picked up my first couple of domains to resell and while I partially understand the methods to deciding on whether or not to buy a domain. My question however is, how do the pros determine a monetary value? Is it strictly from expierence? Or is there a method to determining the value?

Also, would you suggest selling on a forum such as NP or using a site like flippa to sell low value domains (> $200)?

Thank you in advance.

for the money nothing beats Namejet. Max exposure. your cost? nothing until someone bids $69. once someone does bid. You will need to pay $10 to transfer the domain to NetSol. This then will send it to NJ auction. FREE. but.............. if it sells 20% commission.

to get accepted to NJ you will need MANY domains at least 15 or more.

Now hand reg means that I paid only a registration fee for it because I picked it up from a registrar correct? Like the 3 I picked up were all from GoDaddy. So even though they were all found as expired domains, they would be considered hand reg simply due to how they were purchased? Or hand reg only applies to completely new domains that have 0 history (like my very first domain I bought back on August SkewTheWorld.com)?

handregs include even domains that were deleted 1000 times before. and for some reason you decided to reg it.

if you bought at expired. the time clock was not RESET on that domain. therefore you benefit from the years "thee other guy" paid to own it.

fyi.

there are snobs on here that will not even like your domain simply because it's new with no history EVER even drops.

as it has no rank or traffic (probably) as it's so new.

so if snobs hurt your feelings then you are already in the wrong biz.

although stranger things have happened many times before where a domain that's been dropped 10 times has no rank sells for $10K.

sometimes it's all about luck.

so Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I do t anyone is going to hurt my feelings, if that were the case I wouldn't have survived in sales for the last 6+ years lol. I am curious about the value of the domains I picked up as well as what people think of them. Personally I really like 2 of them and one I figure I can cultivate into an ad revenue if it doesn't sell. How accurate is estibot? As one of the domains I picked up is valued at $390 from them.

Lol ya that's what I've been seeing on here. I actually got the $390 price from valuate.com though it says estibot is where it got it's pricing from.

@Siz27 welcome to namepros!:xf.smile:

You already got very good advice from @Avtar629.I wouldonly ad that you should check daily list of sold domains to get some feeling about domain value. Good sources are namebio.com , dnpric.es , domaining.com ...etc

Wish you all the best!:xf.smile:

Funny enough, that seems like the most common sense thing to do, yet I didn't think to do it. Definitely will start to though, so thank you for the tip.

Think profit margin. If the domain applies to a $1 toothbrush not much profit unless you can sell 10 million of them. If the domain applies to a high profit margin product or service then an end user can spend more on the domain cause easier to recoup their investment once developed.
