I usually hate .biz domains, but IMHO this is hot. And I never say that about .biz domains.

I'd say a few thousand easy. Maybe even hitting 5 digits.

There are loads of help desks, repair places, training centers, parts suppliers, coders and others who would love this name.

Good luck with this

Thanks. I get what you mean about the .biz extension, but I think it actually works well with it. I was happy with the acquisition and had the same values in mind that you mentioned. Just wanted to be see what others thought.

I might have to hold for a while, but I do think it's a very decent domain.

Great domain for .biz .. even great domain in general ... you'd really have to hit the perfect end user with perfect timing to get even the lowest 5 digit sale though. I'm thinking lower-mid $x,xxx .. which is really good for a .biz! :)

Good luck with it! :)

Very nice name, well done.

Tend to agree with the general value estimates tendered above.

Enduser price: high $xxx to low $x.xxx

Similar sales: geeks.me 1,200 USD 2015-01-14 Sedo

I'd love the singular version. Great domain and fits with the TLD. Easy developable.

I think you would be lucky if you got xxx for it based on - https://namebio.com/?s==kDO2MDO0ITM

You have countries, states and actual businesses going for just hundreds.

Then what is a geeks biz? Hire a geek to fix something?

Countries and states are poor commercial performers as they don't represent a direct service. If you look at the world's most expensive domains you will find products and services.

By your same logic: What is hosting.biz? You hire a company to host something?

Oh... it sold for $14,975

Yes, hosting is an actual business/service. Geeks? The hosting sold for that much because it actually makes sense. Using your logic - What is geeks.biz? You hire a person to geek something?

Korea, Russia, Britain all $1 million and up domains in .com. And tourism is actually a pretty good business.

And you left out your valuation on the domain. Are you saying it's in hosting territory, 5 figures?

yeah.. I have to agree with JB
.biz is a super hard sell
and this isn't even remotely close in value/quality to above given hosting.biz example.

and even though this looks like old domain from aftermarket buy...
truth is that quality .biz keywords have been expiring and dropping like flies this past year ... I guess from the .biz goldrush from 10-15 years ago.

imo you'll get XXX one day from enduser.. but it could take years of renewals.

I wish you the best, but truth is I just hope for yoru sake you didn't pay it much. cheers.

lol .. I think I'm in the middle of both sides here ...

First of all .. I'd have to say that yes .. "Geeks" at this point in time can be considered a service (look at Best Buy's "Geek Squad". "Geeks.biz" also becomes a top notch (non-com) brandable domain. It's actually even a good service name ... that being said .. it's not at the level of "Hosting".

I would register geeksbiz.com or a variant before I would register a .biz address. I'm not sure I would want to challenge the status quo and risk a .biz for my new business venture.

Just my opinion

You know .. this is one of those very VERY rare instances where I'd actually say I wouldn't pick the .com (GeeksBiz.com) over the shorter Geeks.biz. But to be fair .. that's more because I see GeekBiz.com as a worthless domain .. lol .. and not necessarily because I see Geeks.biz as a $xx,xxx.

I think I might be a little more favourable to .biz than the average North American as I've actually seen it in end use quite a few times when on vacation down south. I think for some businesses they don't want to be seen as a "business" (as opposed to a "Service") .. but I think Geeks.biz certainly works.

i don't get where some of you are getting your valuations from. If you look on namebio for .biz sales on 4/30, there are about three dozen names including US states, countries, and highly generic and commercial keywords, all which sold in the low - mid $xxx range.

A web hosting website or company can sensibly use hosting.biz as their domain because it is generic and an EMD. Geeks on the other hand isn't really either so it lacks liquidity. I think you could squeeze $100 from someone for it but that person would be hard to find IMO

I think this domain is very sellable and I will be sure to let everyone know what I get for it.

Funny thing is, here in Southern California, .biz is pretty widely known. That's a big plus in itself as we domain investors know, there are tons of extensions most people have never even heard of.

Certainly not as popular as .com, but I can honestly tell you that I could sell Geeks.biz much easier than Geeksbiz.com. I wouldn't even attempt to sell Geeksbiz.com.

Here are some similar sales I found:
geek.top 498 USD 2016-10-30 HiChina
geeks.me 1,200 USD 2015-01-14 Sedo
geek.me 1,500 USD 2014-09-03 Sedo

I don't disagree with any of the feedback. The info you all gave (can't thank you enough for the time), tells me to focus on end users for this one. Probably not best for the reseller market.

And, by the way, if it helps I'll tell you what I paid to acquire it. :)

"Funny thing is, here in Southern California, .biz is pretty widely known."

I wonder how many markets have settled on an acceptable non dot com extension for second tier sites to use. It seems like there must be a lot of people who simply can't pay dot com prices. As long as there are enough local businesses using the alternate, it should work just fine..

Agreed.

I try to get quality domains at decent prices. I'm about profit.

I believe in the saying "If you jab, jab, jab, the knockout will come. If you just look for the knockout, it may never come."

So, I paid below $40 for it from a fellow domain investor. I do think I can pick up a few bucks profit. Might take a bit, but I am pretty confident on this one. Tech industry (+), Short name (+), Well known term (+).

Screw it! I'm heading over to Best Buy right now. I'll sell it to one of their customer service reps! :)

HeHe, you might make more money selling it to a competing service.

Can be easily sold over $40
