Hey,
I'm relatively new to domaining, about 2-3 months ago I found out about this after seeing some stuff on affiliate marketing and I eagerly bought a couple of domains, then I thought I got a bit smarter bought some more around 10 or so in total not too much ... And I've been trying to sell them on sedo but nothing's happening ... I would really like to know if I just wasted my money ... (Very new to the forum but from what I've seen people don't really post their domain names so if you message me I'll tell you them)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I don't know the domains or how much you spent so I can't comment about you wasting your money. But, if you read the thread where people report completed domain sales, you will see many posts of people who waited years for their domain to sell.

And some that got the results that you expect - a sale on sedo in 2-3 months.

Again, i don't know your domains, but unless they were super hot merchandise, i don't think getting a sale on sedo in 2-3 months is realistic. That is more of a surprise or anomaly, where luck and taste and a consumer meet at once.

So yeah, maybe adjust your expectations. But again, i haven't seen the domains. I just think that will be helpful moving forward for you. (unless you have top merch than you will probably have nice flip up opportunities).

Question. Are you actively reaching out to potential endusers via outbound emails?
Are these domains aged? with Traffic? and good PR rankings?

are they liquid like 4 letter.com's?

Did you pay to feature these domains AT the marketplace you've listed them at?

Sedo Featured $69
Godaddy $49

Did you list on Afternic?

Flippa?

Are they listed at ALL the marketplaces?

Do you have Twitter?Facebook?Linkedin?Instagram?

do you know how to Hashtag your target potential Enduser buyer market?

did you redirect each domain to point to your marketplace listing?

Do your domains win the "sound test"? Do they sound good to the ear?

Are your domains brandable? Exact Match of a service or product? or great for SEO?

Are your domains blacklisted by Google?

That's just short list. I'm sure there's more I've missed.

either way. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks !! These are a good list of objectives I can outline for each domain ... I didn't even know about half of these stuff, clearly I'm new to this

Thanks, I guess I need a more realistic view of how this industry works

Thanks @Avtar629 , but may I ask about few things,

- List all domains in all marketplaces, but some are exclusive marketplaces like Uniregistry and Flippa (I read in there help and asked there support center and they confirmed to me that) so if you list a domain there you cannot list anywhere as any type of listing otherwise your account may be suspended or closed.

- You asked about having accounts in Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, sorry but you mean to market these domains in these social media or something else I'm missing.

- Did you have more success when listing with featured type.

- When you redirect your domains to the marketplace listing, you make it BIN or Make Offer, and how much success you had with it in general and each type. is it better than putting my own landing page or parking.

- How to hashtag target potential Enduser buyer market?

Thanks

I would love to hear the opinion of someone knowledgeable regarding these questions too

From what I read around here in another thread, you can add, together with your tweets, the domain name, its auction link(s) and a few hashtags like these:

#domain at #Auction
#domain for #sale
#sale #auctions #domainname #domainnames ‪#‎selldomain‬ #selldomains #Startups #Startup #Brand #Brandable #branding
#domains #Sales ‪#‎domainforsale‬ #domainsforsale #WebBusiness #business #news #next #BrandName #DomainAuction
‪#‎com‬‬ ‪#‎advertising‬‬ ‪#‎ad‬ ‪#‎adverts‬ #‎ads‬ ‪#‎advert ‪#‎domainer‬ ‪#‎domaining‬ #dotcom #media #technology #auctioning
#startups #names #flippa #sedo #godaddy #product #name #MakeAnOffer #Offer #buy #sell #service
#Bid #Live #Invest #New #ngTLD #Only #Best #Top #web #site #link #Tech #advertise #start
#ccTLD #dotcom #dotnet #dotinfo #dotorg #dotone #hot #online #MakeOffer #Cheap

I don't understand why you wouldn't want to post the names. It's my belief that any positive exposure is good. :)

Tens of millions of domain names are for sale. How many sell on a weekly basis ? Find out for yourself...
If you have great names you'll make sales, if you have average names you'll struggle like everyone else.

Domain is more than just finding a good name (although that really helps) I have seen certain domains ending on extentsions that not .com .io .co .org and .net for huge amounts of money. And I've seen domains where most people thought those are really good sell for a very low price.

The age of a domain also play a role in whether it sells or not. And yes sometimes you make a loss buying domains and not be able to sell them for the price you wanted or not be able to sell them at all cuttiing them with some loss.

Like people already posted, post them on different marketplaces, share them on social media. Park them and use do marketing/ seo/ link building to increase traffic to them. The more people get on your domain and see it is for sale the better the chances are someone might buy it :)
