I was lookong at other gTLD and ccLD to see if i could get any one words L, LL, LLL, LLLL of anything and its all taken! every where in all the gtld and cctld. So why everyone on the interenet sais to not invest in those? Everyone already invested there. I dont get it?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I for the first time regged 8 or so .blogs I thought about it for a long while, and thought if there is one new extension that has a chance it was that. Not only because of the millions of bloggers, but being wordpress was getting behind it. On the downside bloggers are generally frugile with there money so I don't expect making a killing, but I do expect to be in the black after a year on this investment niche, I haven't invested in any other nltds , but I also missed the 4 letter boat too so I guess time will tell who is right.

Antifreeze.shop?

You win! I yield, I yield!
Thanks for outlining the least you like from my examples.

We are not in a competition so no one wins, I am sure you would be happy for me if I sold any domain because I would...

Should I take your response as a compromise since you haven`t say much about the rest?

To be honest I like Cultural.Tours most and probably it is more valuable than used.cars since most of the people in the web do not buy used cars but most of them managing their holidays online.

More, The World Tourism Organization asserted that cultural tourism accounted for 37% of global tourism!

no. what i mean is only an idiot domainer or end user will pay hundreds or thousands or millions of dollars for a .com when there are exponentially better alternative domains available at up to $100 p.a. with better roi

Because the .COM is still the King! And is gonna be for a while longer i think.

Do you understand how supply and demand works?

If usedcars.com went into auction, everyone on this forum would get in on it and the price would shoot up accordingly, probably to 6 figures.

If usedcars.live went to auction, maybe 4 people on earth, all being nTLD speculators, would bid on it. Then the winner would post it in the nTLD showcase forum and they'd all say "great buy! Hold for 5-10 until the value hits $xx,xxx!". A year later, it would fall to an expiring auction.

If used.cars, one of the few nTLD domains that is great and makes sense went to auction...oh wait, it's reserved by the registry. So, if there was a big money buyer, the registry would get the sale, and one of you speculators would post the sale on namepros claiming how great it is for new extensions, meanwhile none of you even had access to that caliber name in the first place.

The reason .com does so well in the aftermarket, outside of it being the obvious staple of the internet, is because all .coms were available at the same price since the beginning of the internet, and buyers are able to dictate the value.

i agree with everything above except 'meanwhile none of you even had access to that caliber name in the first place'

So you admit that used.car/s is better than usedcar/s.com? Just that it's reservation by the registry is the major impediment and obscene renewals

if so we are on the same wavelength, different frequencies

Even though .com is king you can still loose money in it, the best thing is to invest wisely.

I seriously doubt it. Cultural.tours more valuable than used.cars?

No. The latter is one of the best 2 word exact match that one can have the other has hardly any search volume stats.

culturaltours.net can be bought for $788 right now. If that is more valuable than usedcars.net you would get a major bargain here.

Have a look at the Google adwords stats for these two keywords:

Cultural tours: Global impressions: 13 - cost $2
Used cars: Global impressions: 25000 - cost $7000

Estibot values culturaltours.com at $900.

Not that Estibot is reliable but if you think the domain is better than usedcars.com it would show more than that.

usedcars.com would probably be 6 or 7 figures according to the bot.

A $900 Estibot domain in .com will usually be pigeon shit in .whatever. Some exceptions may apply but it is not better than used.cars

you are just getting started with domaining and you do not understand domain valuations like everyone else in the beginning. That is why you think you are buying bargains while you just burning cash. The registries love this of course and are happy to cater to your needs

No, I said usedcars.com is probably a 6 figure name. Used.cars, while a great nTLD name, isn't even available so it's value is arbitrary for any domain name investor to consider, however it is not a 6 figure name.

Everyone had access to register usedcars.com for a normal price up until 1996 which is its creation date, and since it's such a great name with actual commerciability, it's value has increased accordingly.

If anyone has played runescape, think of it like the party hats or Christmas crackers. They were available for free for a day, but then everyone wanted them, so they became worth nearly a billion gp within 10 years. Even if you bought one for half a bil 5 years in, you could still prosper in the following years as values continued to grow

i understand what you are thinking but it does not work in the real world because "cultural tours" is not a popular term. 13 searches in Google a day.

usedcars.com is a very hot domain. culturaltours.com is not that hot from a domaining perspective.

if you had tours.com that would be another story.
We are going to find out @dordomai , in time.

I am not considering to sell this domain in any time soon unless I receive a good offer.

Will see.

Yes, tourism, big business. Just that the term cultural tourism isn't used that much. Right now you can buy:

culturaltourism.com for $10,000
culturetourism.com for $2,888
culturetours.com for $4,099
culturaltours.com - developed, not updated in years

So you can get the .com for a decent price, the .tours would be less than the above.

You couldn't get usedcars.com for those prices, cheapusedcars.com sold for over $20,000

Edit: cars.com business sold for $2.5 billion, but again who is counting

The 2.5 B was only for the remaining shares the buyer didnt already own (partner buy out) but again who is counting

usedcars.com 6-7 figure domain - ngtld 1/10 of that or less

tourism is a good business yes but the generic "tourism" wouldn`t use much "tours" is the generic what people search for.

Where do you get these price info?

I wonder if you could search for casinoonline.com - how much did it sell for?

@dordomai

1/10 of dot com?

casino.online sold for $201250 what about casinoonline.com?

I don`t see this valuation valid at all.

It is nonsense.

But you guys love to talk nonsense here.

Cultural.Tours - worth much more than the ones you listed above.

culturaltours.com good one but it is a perfect example how you can ruin a business like that with that kind of website.

It is obvious that these folks have no idea about marketing at all.

it is a rule of thumb not a serious valuation of course but there is a lot of truth in that. a ngtld will usually be worth only a fraction of a .com for various and obvious reasons. It is a conservative guess. A single example does neither prove nor disprove this.

One should never overpay and pay close for what the .com would be worth, you will be losing money.

end-users usually aren't stupid and will be conservative in their spending as well. don't expect them to pay close to what the .com would be worth.

Cultural.Tours - worth much more than the ones you listed above.

if this is true why is culturaltours.net for sale for $788 and why are the above examples of JB lions fairly cheap compared to other domains? Why does the market ignore these (according to you) bargains?

maybe you are wrong and the market is right?

Typed those names into GoDaddy, available to buy now for those prices. The .tours just isn't going to be more than the .coms. As I pointed out earlier, the only reported geo .tours sales are $495 and under.

But you guys love to talk nonsense here.

It's the market. Talking about strict domain sales.

I have zero net in my portfolio do not consider it a good tld.

Those prices are not a value set for my domain cause I am not the owner of them and I am not the person who is selling them.

In textile business there are bunch of fake brands selling for low prices where the original ones are selling much higher.

There is only one domain that catches my eye on that list which is culturaltours.com

But boy, that website should be shown as an example in universities how you can ruin a million dollar business with a lack of marketing and design.

why do these prices exist in the first place and why are the domains still for sale that would be the question to ask? I would say probably because they aren't that bargain priced otherwise an investor or developer would have grabbed them by now.

if they are not bargain priced why do you believe your domain is worth so much more?

if i put usedcars.com on the market for 20k it will be gone in hours maybe if not sooner.

You can`t make big bucks selling used cars online, cause it won`t. how it generates money is advertising.

For tours it is all together, you can get advertisement to your website and sell tour packages at the same time.

It is all about business plan and I don`t see it on the names above.

companies spend 6 figures a day advertising on Google when someone searches for "USED CARS". they must be making money somehow. if they spend millions I am sure some can afford to buy usedcars.com for a huge sum. if the domain helps them spend less it can pay for itself.

If your company worths more than 500 Billion Dollars, than he might have a chanse to spend 6 figures a day for advertising.
I don`t see any big player when I search used cars in google. Just 2 ads where the one has a different target market, 100% irrelevant.

cars.com also in the front page but they are listed 3rd. First comes as autotrader.

Now you see its all about marketing and online marketing is something totally different.

About the news for cars.com, I don`t buy it. It is just another tool for advertising their company and website for free.

Billion dollar sale is just a joke but you guys buy it IMO
