Welcome!

Whatever you do, keep in mind that nearly every new domainer buys garbage at first. And if they are new and rich, then they bought good domains but they overpaid for them. My advice to you:

Don't buy anything for 6 months.

Just read for 6 months.

Just research for 6 months.

Just ask questions for 6 months.

Your wallet will thank you in 6 months.

And yes, sticking with one or two niches to focus on at first is a good idea.

Do what @Nem0 says, I just want to add that if you're choosing a niche, buy few but good quality domains in that niche. I don't focus on niches btw..

Avoid hand registering a bunch of names in just one niche, read up and then consider the aftermarket, good luck

i can see where and Nem0 is coming from and i somewhat agree. However, sometimes learning by buying is more beneficial than learning by reading as long as its controlled spending.

To answer your question, i think its good to be an expert in a certain market but at the same time as an investor, you should explore every market to fully take advantage.
