I don't start too many threads but wanted to discuss if any current traffic advantages and disadvantages. I have been wondering a few things about gTLDs and want to share any observations thoughts or opinions.
My first observation to mention is whilst using an old phone. I have been sharing a few of my domain buys with phone texts to a friend. I noticed that the 5 year old Samsung when using SMS will actually create a link when texting TLD extensions. When typing eg: Eg domainname.com it will actually create http://domainname.com
My mate confirms when I text traffic(dot)shopping or trafficshopping(dot)com links appear without typing http:// I only see the dot com sent as a link on my side sending as old phone.
My thought is has he visited from type in previously and his cache may be doing translation from previous visit to link. (bad result if case and makes entire post look stupid) If it is browser translating on own for the gTLD without a previous visit then this maybe good for a domain owner. If I can't ask here I won't find out without a few phones to play with. Other thought is I don't know the future. Will phones allow type ins for gTLD in SMS like they already allow TLDs?
Not all extensions are supported on the old phone my end but leads me to think what can or will new phones do My thoughts are... If new SMS and browsers start supporting all extensions some domains could see some type in value.
What could happen with two or three words?
Look at keywords atthe.shop providing dot shop worked like this in new text or browsers
(available 10k a year) People text walking, texting driving fat fingers etcetera typing perhaps this to partner text example "Where are you" "I am inthe(accidental dot)shop" (registered not by me)
Could they accidentally send a link to "inthe(.)shop
If a sentence finishes end of the page line and a space is left out due to being no more room, Links may appear to sender as "room.links" because a space was left due to next line so
a gTLD extension may show accidentally.
If we do see TXT and browsers supporting gTLDs these accidental backlinks may occur.

Do you believe there currently any or future benefit to gTLDs with Txt?
Do you believe there currently any or future benefit to gTLDs with browsers?
Do you see unusual or unrealistic total on various backlink tools to some gTLDs.
The hyphen was once an seo tool with type ins. Can gTLDs do what the hyphen once did for traffic?

Lets here some more liabilities then.
There are plenty of disadvantages as many search engines, submit and ping tools don't recognize new extensions there are lots that don't include gTLDs. Many sites you will fill out email inquiry forms to find site is invalid back button page is blank etc and of course is easier to market the dot com with sales history but no harm in bringing up some discussion on it.
So far I have only sold dot com but excited about what i have to offer for sale with gTLD's
