Rick Schwartz. I could only hope to have 1/10 his success. But I love the high prices.

There's always been thee "belief" in all things tangible or intangible by consumers. That if it's priced high then it MUST BE GOOD.

I am a firm believer that High Pricetags are a great eyecatcher. "Sometimes".

It begs a "second look" to understand or simply curiousity as to why that domain is priced at $1 million bucks?

It's like when Kanye West buys a new Bugatti Veyron. It's sensationalism at it's best.:xf.grin::xf.wink:
"I am a firm believer that High Pricetags are a great eyecatcher. "Sometimes"." - Thats why I put high price for all my domains at Billionaire.Property, some with $5M - $10M dollars price tag......advantage is I got plenty of rooms to negotiate downward depending on whether I want to sell or not.....

I disagree with that (if it's non-premium), whenever i see non premium domains valued for so many million i just think the owners either got a screw loose or would be impossible to deal with.

Most domainers will think that way like you did....only end users / serious buyers will buy by negotiating downward regardless of $1-5M or not, because they seriously want it....

Rick did it successfully....he doesn't sell to whole sellers....

This way, we cut out all whole seller price...only sell to end users with more profit margin....

Its nothing to do how much value of a name. Its about who can sell craps with high dollars. Rick is the only one can sell craps with top dollars......Rick can sell iBankOnline.com for $1M if he decided to put up $1M price tag.....
Here is where I wanted to get ... Rick has a great portfolio, but, as almost every domainer he also has worthless domains. The difference stands in they are owned by Rick and if they sell for high prices (or if they just sell) is NOT because they are worth TOP dollars; is because Rick has specials skills and circumstances to get those TOP dollars. To sell a domain for $1M dollars, first you have to say NO to a $999,999 offer and almost 99% of domainers can´t and won´t do that. What I mean is Rick´s portfolio in other domainer hands wouldn´t have made 5% of what he made. Hope you get the point (y)

Its exactly what you mean. I start to say no for $2.8M offer until it reached my target $3M..... You have to stick to your price......

Few Domains from My portfolio:
LcdMonitor.com Estibot.com $237,000
Nek.net Estibot.com $15,000
Jus.net Estibot.com $15,000
Adow.com Estibot.com $23,000

Sumo.com sold $1,500,000 in 2017

Vivo.com sold $2,100,000 in 2016 , close to $2.85M
Its exactly what you mean. I start to say no for $2.8M offer until it reached my target $3M..... You have to stick to your price......
Less tan 1% of domainers will PLAY to say NO to a $2.8M offer just to get $3.0M

In this case, I will push up price to $5M...say no to $2.8M

If/when Estibot comes to buy your names, you can remind them of their estimates. Chances of them coming to buy your names, slim, chances of them paying their own estimates, slimmer :)

If that would be easy to apply to the real world, DOMAINING would be the PERFECT BUSINESS.
Rick´s model is that: "RICK´S MODEL" for me one of the greatest "domaining"models of all the times but ALMOST nobody can replicate his model just because everyone´s circumstances are different. Rick has special negotiation skills, special patience, special budget and special mindset and some special luck for sure. The perfect recipe to be "The KING". (Not for everyone) :xf.smile:

A Clear mind, but is it also a sound mind though?
You can have a clear mind in your own head, but a sound mind is usually a judgement by others.
Either way, this does not change the fact that your domain is "The most expensive domain of all time".

Yes, how ever this might sound, I also have a sound mind.
You can be sure like an amount which is signed, this domain's sight is like the highest mount.

Team.com, f*ck.com, What.com.... those are all 4L.com and worth more than Unemployed.com for sure, and you have right, they are not Premium they are SuperPremium!

A domain is only worth value as a domain until a website is built on it even the most valuable domain is only worth 10 figures but although expensive is cheap compared to the $`'s it generates if a tech venture buys it then the 10 figures paid for it etc becomes nothing more than loose change

You need to perform like Rick's model.......
We own the name HualiChe.com ( "gorgeous car" in Chinese) we know that mingche.com ( luxury car) sold - just the name no website-for $2.5 million. We also own "Birthday Card" .com in Chinese and others. These are names we'll hold out for and use Rick's model.

if one wants to replicate Rick's model one also needs Rick's domains.

The most difficult part is having the domains. Unless you have the perfect and best domain available and the company really needs and wants it they are not going to pay you $15 million. For that price they can get virtually any domain that is listed for sale today. They will simply buy a better one if there is one available for that price.

if you have sex.com which is probably the best domain in the adult niche you can ask $15 million for it because there are no better alternatives. If you own sex.net no one is going to pay you $15 million for it if they can have the .com for $13 million.

1% of domainers own 99% of premium domains. Yet, 99% of domainers are sold the dream that they can become rich like the 1%.

Although it would be nice, I'm not particularly aiming to be as rich as the 1%. Just a few regular sales to make a decent living is my realistic target. Some great domains in his portfolio though.

Hmmm , Agree to disagree, Just because you have good domain doesn't guarantee High End sale. You also need to know how to negotiate and Make buyer feel like they are getting the best deal ever.
Based on personal experience . Sold Domain few months ago for $515 and within month domain was Sold Again for $11,000.

Totally agree what you said. " Make buyer feel like they are getting the best deal ever"
That's why I need to put up ridiculous high price $15M to start with...so that there are plenty of rooms to negotiate down to $7.5M....buyer will be very happy, and they think that they get half price....

Most of my names are ridiculously high price, well over 90%.....Gemstones.Diamonds listed $5M, if I negotiated down to $3M, the buyer will be very happy to get $2M off,...and I will be happy to get $3M...win win for both parties....

My point is I need to set high inflated price...If I set low price to start with, I don't have room to negotiate upward ... low return...
