Some of those might be as a result of bad selling. I'd have paid more than $300 for wireless life. Mobile home sales are on the increase, and one of my projects is related to off-grid computing. I'm posting this via free WiFi.

some of the sales look like end-user purchases to me that dropped and were sold on the reseller market again.

of course you are getting massive differences. if you don't like .com i would recommend investing in .agency

I don't think this is an indication of a crash.....

considering there are 10000's of .com sold every year one can not simply pick a few sales that sold for less than what they were purchased for as a means to prove the market is crashing. Take into consideration how many of us sell hand reg .com domains for $xxx / $xxxx .

.mobi: names selling for 6 figures in 2008, worth reg fee today (some have actually dropped).
And what about the countless domains in .com and new extensions that cannot even be flipped for 1% of the acquisition price ?
If you make bad purchases, or you pay too much (end user price), then yes you lose.

In fact I could even contribute to this list: zimbabwe.com for example

But anyone with half a brain can read sales reports and figure out for themselves where the money is going.

Sales data is simply sales data..... there are often reasons behind some of these sales that 90% of people have no clue about.

What you posted is misleading for multiple reasons.

First, I would say just from eyeballing it that 95%+ of your examples are where the original sale was an end user sale, and the subsequent "flop" is a wholesale sale. It is natural for a domain investor to pay much less than an end user (usually 90% less), and doesn't point to a "crash".

Second, there are many examples in our Daily Market Report articles of "flips" in the .com space and you left these out entirely and didn't even mention that they exist.

Third, your poll only has options to agree that buying .com is a bad idea. Nobody can vote that it is a good idea, so you're only measuring degrees of passion within your echo chamber.

Here's a handy little guide on interpreting Sales with History without bias:

Wholesale => Higher Wholesale (possible increase in market)
Wholesale => Lower Wholesale (possible decrease in market)
Wholesale => Higher Retail (means nothing, this is just natural)
Wholesale => Lower Retail (maybe market was hyped leading to original over-payment)
Retail => Higher Wholesale (maybe hyped market, or maybe just a lot of time has passed)
Retail => Lower Wholesale (means nothing, this is just natural)

Retail to Retail (higher or lower) doesn't tell you too much and are pretty rare anyway.

Almost all of the ones you posted were the last example in the "guide" (Retail to Lower Wholesale) and means almost nothing.

With a decade in the industry I assume you know this already, so I guess you have an agenda like a big investment in new gTLDs.
