Dotster stole my domain

What about whois data? Is It still showing your name?

yes it is

you may need to provide some more details on what happened:
- TLD?
- domain status when it left your account? (active, redemption period, expired, etc.)
- has it "just" left your account, or is there a new owner in whois?

go to panel and click add existing. then type name.
if fails, call them and they add it.
if domain shows your whois it can always be added to your panel. by you or them.
registrars don't steal domains. peolple do.

Once it happens to my domain in GoDaddy and then I contacted their support and issue was resolved.
Contact dotster again.

This happened to me @Dotster too, but they didn't steal it, somehow a second account was setup with one domain name in it, and they were able to merge both accounts for me, problem solved. It took a while, going through the authentication process to make sure I wasn't trying to steal someone elses domain but there customer service was excellent, but their domain reg. system and user interface needs updating badly!
Check and see if you have a duplicate account that the name missing is in?

Support doesnt know where the domain is. Its apparently in another account and the email address on that account is not mine. Support just stop responding to my questions. They think I'm trying to steal my own domain.

Check whois on the missing name for the corresponding email address?

The whois is my info

Ask them to send a password reset for the account with that domain in it

Start with the email address that's not yours!
Find out who it belongs to and any other domains associated with that email address!
Start there!

They just finally after 3 hours moved the domain back to my account. No explanation of why it was in some else's account.

The support for dotster is terrible.

you have to make sure whois info shows all your info as yoru doster account does.

if indeed whois info shows someonen else's email. then your domain may well be stolen. but most certainly not by registrar.

dotster always readds yoru domain as long as all whois info is yours.. including email of course.

I had this sort of stuff happen to me couple times on expired auctions.. I regged something at same time as someone else.. I was quicker so it had my whois, but somehow ended in another user accoutn

it took one phone call or chat. then they opened ticket for it. and then took 24h by their tecfh team to fix move.

otherwise, if domain removes from your account for other reasons, and whois info is all yours, and domain is NOT in another user account. you just need to click add existing to put it back in yours. hgappened to me before too

i want to suggest a forum improvement - every time you reg a name with a vague registrar you get infraction points on NP

I agree 4PM. I am moving all my dotster domains away from them.

They still dont have an answer for me. Domain just magically moved away from my account. It did not expire and not involved in any auctions. Still 180 days away until renewal. So weird but I dont trust them anymore.

Happy to hear you get them back and it was resolved. I would have been nervous and pissed all rolled into one.
