Hello! For fun in my free time I made a tool that lists the status of the .com domains for for trending topics (hastags, trends, news) on Twitter. Each day it archives the previous day so you can flip through them. Its kinda mindless but its fun. I also made my Twitter account tweet out the most popular available "trending domain" hourly :) If you like domain lists its a fun tool.

So far its done very well, I just made the page this weekend so everyone can see all the domain names it checks but the Twitter bot has been on for 2 weeks now. The Twitter account tweeted that makedonalddrumpfagain.com was available (John Oliver forgot to register it then later did) also some stuff like trapcovers.com and funny ones like strippernamefails.com have popped up.

The page on my site is good browsing for some casual fun with domain lists, it updates every ~30 minutes :) If you click the trend/hashtag it will take you to the Twitter search so you can see what that hashtag means. My list links with my affiliate link if you click to buy one from the page so I can try to pay for the hosting then work on my projects as a job someday, (waiting so desperately for the that first $1 still though)

Please let me know what you think, I made these for fun after making my plugin to blow off some steam and I've been really happy with the results and the funny domain names :)

Disclaimer: the domains and hashtags on that site do not reflect my views or opinions they are generated from trending topics automatically. I put in a filter to take out the really bad stuff but sometimes Twitter is very... creative :|

Pretty sure that some have their own software for this. Twice I've noticed that a suddenly emerged and rapidly spread slang word in Finnish (yup, periferic) has been reg'd as a .com very quickly by one of the large portfolio holders. In these two cases, there's very little chance that those words have any kind of other meaning in any other language.

I immediately thought that they're tracking rapidly spreading hashtags.

Have to say this again: I like the tool very much. Haven't reg'd anything yet though, almost did. Great for domain name brainstorming IMO.

Trending domains never fail to entertain :)

Fresh domainers, beware! Many of the trending domains are actually trademarks for known brands! Be sure you carefully research any domain before purchasing.

The bumps from @Domaineus & @RJ a year after launch (thank yous not allowed so be sure *not* to feel thanked you two) made me check this thread's stats and I realized this thread has now seen > 1000 views and is by far my most popular thread. Thank you for the support!

This tool is near & dear to my heart. Pretty much monthly it either breaks, violates TOS, or unintentionally tweets something extremely inappropriate and gets a serious nastygram. Nothing is new in domaining, and having let this bot run for a while I now see why other people have not been offering this tool :) $0 in yearly reported rev & way too harmful and risky for a real brand. But... the bot finds ridiculous domains like ifitwasntformyspouse.com and someonepleaseinvent.com (both of those are from today). I love imagining all the hilarious end user sites so I let the bot carry on for entertainment. I'm stoked to know there are other people are out there enjoying these with me on the regular :-D

Very cool! I'm amazed it hasn't produced any revenue at all. Does it generate a fair amount of click thru's?

@NameClerk.com you, me, and every domainer that has ever seen this tool swears it should convert :) Some of the domain names do get registered, but not through my affiliate links apparently. It generated ~1 click thru per month, (there are bots and DDoS ppl who skew the click thru data by 2 orders of magnitude so it's hard to say truthfully with such low stats).

What a neat tool. I've actually hand-regged numerous trending topics off of Twitter and other sites over the years, mostly using homebrew scripts or just old-fashioned looking them up.

I'd love to know about some of the nasty grams you've gotten :)
