Hi,

I've bought a 4L domain under the privacy protect, now I think it was not his and he insisted to pay as a gift 900 USD by PayPal. So I did yesterday,, because I don't like for sellers to pay 5% mostly and offer them gift payment.. Now as of today his account
@ZArunas is auto closed. :(
What can I do? I just made a dispute on PayPal for unauthorized transaction.
Thank you all in advance,

Robert

Trying contacting the registrar or the paypal email id used for making payment. Which registrar was he using

The domain was buqe.com @ Namesilo. Still "owe" him some money because the agreed price was higher and I was supposed to pay the rest this Friday.

Take screenshots of the domain pre-sale conversations and present it within PayPal dispute. That may help.

You can not dispute Gift transaction, so I made an unauthorized payment dispute....

.. dont like for sellers to pay 5% mostly and offer them gift payment..

It's very kind of you to give him $900 gift.

I do hope you get your money back and learn from this in the future.

Sucks man.. This guy offered me the same domain for $1499 on March 13th, but I didn't buy the domain...
Hope you get your money back...

Was the domain transferred or not? I don't understand this from your message...

Oh dear, another scammer uysig PayPal. Why do people still use a service that has a 6 month payment confirmation delay, and is the preferred choice of scammers?

Even though he has 11 positive trade reviews, if we look a little deeper, some of the accounts he dealt with are newer accounts and some have don't have high post counts either which makes you wonder. 9 of those trade reviews were in the last month.

Just an observation.

Sending the money as a gift might make it hard for you to get your money back, I don't think Paypal will want to help you. When you send money that way the recipient is supposed to be a relative or a friend, you're giving them a "gift". It's not intended to be used for a transaction where someone is buying and someone is selling.

Good luck.

That sucks. I hope you'll be able to recover the money (or get the domain). The Gift option at Paypal is a double edged sword and using paypal for expensive transactions with people who aren't 100% trustworthy... risky business. Did you contact NP's staff to find out why his account was closed?

Hope you get your money back, fingers crossed.

The scammer can still come back to NP & do the same thing (using different name, from different location) :banghead:

Yeah, I believe the "newest" trick now is to make some transactions for few bucks, grow your posts and likes and than put in a signature you have 3.000 USD budget.

If you paid by credit card to paypal for the transaction, you can ask your creditcard company to reject the transaction. if the funds were taken from your bank account, you can ask your bank to reject it also. Credit card has a better chance.

Good luck

I hope you get your money back @decades80

People need to understand that the money they steal is not some kind of a 'profit', @ZArunas will face a bigger loss and those $900 will never benefit him in any way.

your chances are minimal
if he takes the money out of paypal
they will give you nothing

but they would have done so
with a normal transaction as well

Sorry to hear this OP.

What i'm going to say won't be popular but I would say goodbye to the money and use it as a learning experience. Some of the advice here is frankly horrible.

As others have mentioned a gift payment is exactly that not meant for business deals, Paypal masspay is there if you want to cover fees as the buyer. You have claimed an unauthorized transaction which is frankly 100% false as you did authorize it. If Paypal investigate and see your IP etc. matches up and you did approve it and used it for a business transaction you could very well lose your Paypal account for good.

If it were me I would cancel the dispute and move on unless you are happy to risk losing your Paypal account forever for $900.

100% agreed

don't think of paypal as a "pal"

Sorry to heard about your dilemma...

I think you are going to run into some problems as @joro001 has mentioned already - When they do realize that it was an authorized transaction and not a fraudulent one, they will then ask you why you did a "gift" payment when it was in fact a business transaction and by doing so you were trying to avoid paying them their 5% fee. That will not go down very nicely with them unfortunately.

it was very kind of you as a nice person you are
to intend to save the commission for the buyer

but never do so with people
who have no great history

and limit your losses
in never doing so above x USD

set up a sum that fits you
and stick to it
no matter what

Sorry to hear that, I hope you manage to get out of this... and recover your money.

I would never buy a privacy protected name... first you make him take off privacy protection, check whois, and then proceed with caution.

As a next step, I'd suggest you to get in touch with the Moderators here at NP to understand why his account is Auto-Closed. Can something be work out from their end to get more details of this account including email address or so to get in touch with him ?
