REALITY CHECK- There are very few industries that are price regulated in this world. Ever heard of "what the market will bear"

Even in purely capitalistic countries like the US price controls exist on certain things and national resources.
Monopolies are subject to particular rules in order to safeguard healthy competition and preserve public interest.
Domain names are effectively monopolies, because each domain name is
unique and cannot be replaced.
If the office rent gets too expensive, then I can move elsewhere, to the suburbs, I can even relocate out of State. It doesn't affect my corporate
identity. But
your domain is your brand. If you are priced out of your own brand/identity, this is a big problem. This is where we need assurances of stability.
Also, the domain industry actually does regulate itself well, if at all.
