I need to know from industry experts if these domains are a good investment opportunity...please advise on appraisal value.

www.fashion.careers
www.fashion.deals
www.cinema.careers
www.cinema.deals

I intend to invest in a career website in fashion and cinema as well as e-commerce websites in the same niches.

Please help me with appraisals...Thanks

if you plan to develop, then it doesn't matter

for reselling, think loooooooong term

because there is no market yet, outside of the registrars

imo....

Agreed, if you develop them the fashion domains have very nice potential... Honestly the cinema career not so much imo, I may drop that one. Hope that helps...

fashion.deals sounds OK for a site selling branded clothing at factory prices :xf.smile:

.careers competes with .jobs .work .whatever.

fashion.careers, cinema.careers, clearly do not have as much potential as it.careers for example.

I don't think I would keep the rest, unless you have a development plan.
But I do not recommend new extensions for investment purposes, they are more speculation imo.
Anyway, we can't really appraise new extensions because, there isn't an established market really.
Good luck.

I don't think any gtlds are keepers but that's cause I'm a gtld hater. I hate them all equally

Yeah, I like fashion.deals, that has some potential. I also like fashion.careers, but have to agree with @Kate you will be competing against the better gtlds - so if you're intent on developing it, you need a strong plan and a better offering/platform/whatever than they do.

Good luck!

If you ask whether they are investment-worthy as plain domains, you need to include the renewal fees too.

Dear God... If you're paying close to $1k in renewal for fashion.deals; let me suggest that you sell it for as much as you can to recuperate some of the renewal fee an move on with .com names instead. IMO...

While so many domainers are passing on the new extensions, these are the future. You can obtain some great one-word domains on extensions that make a lot of sense. For example, foresight.domains. Well I'm partial to these new extensions, but only when the new extension makes your name more elegant, and possibly allows you to grab a better spot shortening your 3 word .com domain to a two-word or even 2 letter "dot only" domain. ig.guru tw.guru hey these are great elegant ways to say you are the guru of twitter or instagram.

3 Reasons Why a “Dot Only” Domain Name is the Best Investment for your Money and Business Right Now
  1. "Dot only” Domain Rush
  2. Scarcity
  3. Clamor

"Dot Only" Domain Rush

a) New open terrain - New extensions are the “Oklahoma Land Rush” of our time
b) One-word domains are available again!
c) Elegance of the “dot only” Two-word Domains
PizzaExpress.com of the olden days can now be “upgraded” —>> pizza.express or express.pizza!
d) Enclosing the “dot” with your concept, protects your name forever

Scarcity
a) Similar to lake front real estate - there is only so much to go around

Imagine if Lake Michigan property could be expanded, but people weren’t looking to buy land on Lake Michigan because they have been so programmed to try to find an empty lake somewhere and be the first lot on the lake. (buy a .com) The short 2-letter or 1-word names we are finding on the top keywords are unbelievable on the new extensions. Someday you’ll be able to tell your grandkids how you had the foresight to grab a prime location on one of the best internet spaces.

b) The best internet lakes (most searched keywords) just expanded to fit more lake front properties, and you can be on the BEST LAKE, jumping over your competitors.

Clamor - Domains count as a Keyword to Raise Your Voice above the Noise

a) The largest difficulty in web success is getting traffic because the entire web is clamoring for attention. There are 100M results on the best keywords.

b) More precise categorization helps searchers choose your link

c) New extensions let you grab a spot on the BEST lakes: (loans, cars, investments, etc.) while everyone else is trying find the best lot (the available .com) on an inferior lake (annualloanpayments, myfavoritecars, longtermretirementinvestments, etc.).

Lake = Keyword = Domain Name -> the higher monthly search volume and higher CPC (cost per click) the keyword, the more valuable the domain that matches that keyword.

Lot = Extension (.xyz) - Google has stated the extension doesn’t matter, ONLY the keyword. Extension matters for your domain resale value quite a bit, but for a higher ranking in the search results, Google says they look only at the part before the dot.

I'm sure there will tons of reasons you all disagree, and please do share I want to learn all of the reasons. I'm sure there is plenty I don't know, this is just how I see the space developing.

it's overpriced unfortunately...!
If it's a $1k renewal then drop that thing now. Good luck telling an end user "hey, I want $xxx for this domain, but every year you have to pay a registry $1k just to keep it"

I am the end user! I will develop it and give it a shot...
