DirectNIC has been around a long time, support is good, renewals are priced at $15

Good deal if you don't use FastHosts or want some NETs at a slightly lower price than BigRockIN ($4.45)

UPDATE 16:30 UTC 3 January: Support replied, there is a volume limit on this Promo. So as soon as they sell X number of domains, the Promo will end.

@usernamex I am really enjoying the Directnic Offer. I've registered about 20 domains so far with them. Thanks cuz you are the one who let me know about it.!

I registered 4 domains, thank you for the share.

Thanks for the share. I got 2 names yesterday without an issue. Opened a ticket and received response stating my account is working fine.

I also asked them about push and transfer charges to which they responded that there are no charges.

But to push "Please note that there is a 30-day waiting period for newly registered or renewed domains for online internal transfer."

I have requested them to look into reducing it. Hope they respond positively.

Thanks for this info @VaibhavA

Just out of curiosity @jacoliobo was your test push within 30 days of new registration? I wonder if that was why you needed to contact support instead of it being automatic.

No. I have not had any dealing with jacoliobo so far. Why would you assume that?

Oh no sorry @VaibhavA - unrelated - I was asking @jacoliobo if this is what happened with the push they tried

I asked a friend to open account to test a push, since I put a domain up for auction here a couple days after registering it there.
I used a different domain I also recently registered to test the push. We both clicked links in the emails we were sent to confirm it, but it seems it didn't work. :|

Yeah. I think the support person told me he had to do it for me because it was in the 60 day lock, not a 30 day limit? but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Or the support person misunderstood and told you incorrectly : rolleyes :

Either way until we hear back from support with the official word it's good to know ahead of time so you're not caught off guard.
They mention nothing in KB about date limits https://directnic.com/knowledge/art...fer+domain+names+between+directnic+accounts?+

Support has been super, overall they seem to be a little tighter with security, not necessarily a bad thing, and good to keep the details going here so we all know what to expect. I am certain they are learning from having a bunch of domainers test their system : grin :

**UPDATE**

Just now noticed that the NET price has changed to $7.99 - My best guess is they reached the NET quota for this promo.

COM price is still $3.99

Personally I used this offer for NET more since they had the best price and there were other COM promos that were cheaper so it makes sense.

Locking account after creating is crap procedure, what if end user creates a.c and we finish a sale and his account gets locked

do they still close accounts ?

They seem to only lock accounts if there is a verification issue - AND you can proactively ask to verify ahead of time so you have zero issues.

Every issue so far reported on NP has been resolved in less than a day, even on weekends, and mostly shorter than that. Closing an account is very different from a temporary security measure of locking an account : smile :

Welcome refugees of FH : wink :

Quick Summary:
DirectNIC is solid, been in business a long time. Support is helpful, average response less than 24 hours, so far every reported issues solved completely.

One known issue is AFTER you set up account and make purchase, they *might* lock account and ask for verification, you can either
1] set up account without purchase first, then open a ticket to make sure they will verify you for receiving push or purchases
2] make purchase, then send proof of ID
Nicely, the domains purchased are registered in your name in whois so it is just a temporary verification of account situation

THIS OFFER MAY END ANYTIME - likely sooner with influx of FHers, this promo had unknown number of "stock", the NET ran out already a month ago

Push between accounts may require support if it is before 60 days. No issues or fees for transfer out after 60 days. Renewals standard cost is $15

Sedo doesn't have Directnic account (Sedo's transfer agent said to me).
I need to wait until 60 days lock finished to start the domain transfer to buyer.

My buyer set-up account without purchase and still got locked and asked for ID verification + other documents even if he didn't even make a purchase after creating the account.

Hmm, I think they might have some kind of individual quota per customer. For me, the $3.99 promo ended already a couple weeks ago. After 60 .COMs or so.

@Eckhart - excellent point - I edited for clarity

@nomen - This is good to know. I was pretty sure they told me in January there were no limits, I might be wrong thinking of another promo. If you are asking support directly and wanna report back that would be stellar.

Just 10 domains for $3.99, after $7.99

That is a bit confusing. Does it mean, you were able to register 10 .com domains @3.99 each and then after that the amount was $7.99 ?

Exactly...

I manage to regged 11 domain names.
I reg 5 first, then i regged 6, after that i got the $7.99 price for .com.

So the trick is to register all at once if you plan to register .com domain names more than 10, perhaps it will work i suppose.

Yes. Apparently since I did not login for 20 days, they locked down my account and now want a photo id to unlock it. The photo id needs to be sent to the support reps email id directly.. Not cool at all. Will probably have to skip on this offer
