Why domainers are so cheap?

Hello,
I was really surprised about what happened to me recently. I had a domain which I got an lowball offer on flippa about 9 months ago.. It was a $30 from a domainer. I contacted him back and asked $100 (as a reseller price), but at the end we did not agree.
Yesterday, I was checking my domains expiration and noticed that domain was expired so I quickly renewed it. Within a few hours the same domainer made an offer on flippa again, but this time $20. IMO, it was clear, this domainer was waiting for the domain to expire and get it from the dynadot expired domain marketplace (the domain is registered at dynadot). This time I asked $200 just for fun as I'm sure it will not be sold.
Still, I don't understand, why wait 9 months to get the domain when the asking price was low, why domainers are so cheap?

Most bidders at Flippa are not a domainers...
This platform is mainly used by SEO-guys and lowball webmasters...

Anyone would think they like to buy. Coms for less than $1 because obviously a good. Com is not worth $10 until having bought it for $1 then it's value becomes $30k + instantly lol

Because, like your sig promoting Websites For Sale Starting at $10, Cheap is what you're selling.

I think a better question would be "Why I keep renewing domains that I can't sell for $100?"

Because most domainers are broke...

I sincerely believe that :(

It's not about being cheap, it's mostly hubris on behalf of the IT 'web guy' who frequents flippa.

Most companies aren't aware that their IT guy is terrible at domain name acquisitions, it's a job for the sales department. However, most companies also have no idea that their sales people have zero knowledge of domains and tech.

As for domainers...

I can only speak for myself in saying that I'm not cheap, but I will either haggle you down or wait you out before I pay any asking price.

Every dollar another domainer gets from me is a dollar I will have to fight against during the next auction.

That's true!
Because, like your sig promoting Websites For Sale Starting at $10, Cheap is what you're selling.
This is not relevant. I get rid of the domains I don't want by selling them cheap or dropping them. I think anyone does it. It is not the point of the thread!

I don't know. Maybe we all make mistakes?!

Well, if I want a domain and the asking price is $100 and my offer is at last 1/3 of the asking price, I'd but the domain at some point without waiting time.
^^ @ Deez...

Did I quote your post, or respond the OP's sig?

Perhaps you should take another hit... then take another look.
If you are confused than you should rest a little. lol

What is the possible end use for this domain?

If you believe on its potential I strongly suggest you to develop it.

We are all trying to buy low and sell high.
The less money u have into a domain the more room you have to make money.

Point is if your "selling cheap" you attract 'cheap domainers'. Is that not relevant?

Me? I've been on NP for a year longer than you (12 years) and have yet to sell cheap (I may have tried once or twice years ago -but when the cheapest I would go got no takers (so I agree with you), I decided to only drop... and let the higher priced aftermarket be a value benchmark within a category I have other names in.

Also, note I responded to your sig that says 'websites @ $10', not 'domains'.
in addition, it appears you missed the Deez post he retracted, so you were confused by my reply.

Domainers are a mixed bunch from the seasoned professional that's been in the industry from its beginning to the business accounts that regularly sell to end users etc and have customers that will pay a good fair price and so such they can pay a half decent price when buying from a domainer and there are the hobby domainers that are in a job they'd like to get out of and see just testing the water by buying an occasional $10 here and there to see if they can sell a domain at all

The difference between $30 and $100 isn't big. If the name is good enough, I just pull the trigger and I don't look back.

Domainers lack confidence in their own trade. You can see that when they are reluctant to buy a name for their portfolio website, even for $$$. But they want to sell names for $,$$$ to end users.
They also do not account for the their time like they should. Time is money and it is in short supply.
I think they are greedy too. They think that they are not having a good deal until they have screwed you, and that leaving money on the table for the other party signals weakness. I am old-fashioned, but I prefer win-win business, especially with fellow domainers because a good deal paves the way for more transactions in the future.

I think I have a word to depict those characters but it's not an English word.

Well, I decided not to be involved too much in domaining. You are still missing the point. I am not complaining about the low offer, I am just pointing out this trange way of doing business, Again, I don't care about receiving low offers, I just look the way people do business. I removed the sig, if that was an issue...

I agree

Many a million has been made by store owners selling items for a quid but to volumes of repeat customers but domains are more like luxury items I suppose
