Hi, I am taking a marketing course and I have 4 questions that I would love for anyone to fill out. I value the domain community and I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance for your help.

1.) What would motivate you to buy domains under any of the new gtlds?

2.) What would cause you to STOP buying the new gtlds even if you’ve been provided what you needed from buying new gtlds in question 1?

3.) What would make you START buying the new gtlds again, even if you stopped for the reasons you listed in question 2

4.) What would cause you to STOP buying the new gtlds again?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
1) I put a big spiel here. But basically domains related to me and my business unavailable in .com
2) Price increases.
3) nGTLD's becoming 2nd choice to .com domains
4) More price increases. But it doesn't mean I'd drop all of my core nGTLD's. I'd still hold a small stock.

Imagine if average industry turnover were 10 per cent annually and that more experienced investors with better portfolios had turn in the 15 to 20 per cent range. Investors would be scrambling to buy more inventory because they could see a point a few years down the road where they would not have much left to sell. They might examine other extensions particularly if they were selling just like .com. However industry turnover is probably less than one per cent.

1. End user demand
2. High reg renewal prices
3. Sensible renewals around 10 dollars
4. No enduser demand high renewal fees

Oh hell stick with .com a lot less complicated.

1.) Meth.
2.) Renewal prices that are as volatile as adjustable rate mortgages.
3.) High adoption rates by the TLDs targeted audience and increased promotion. Also, if I see the new generation of businesses using them seriously I would consider adding a few choice names to the portfolio.
4.) On the course they are on right now they are dead. They are unnecessary as they stand.

1. only to shorten my existing .com domain ie nameclub.com --> name.club
2. price increase, name uncertainty, ranking, image, lack of use by others, lack of public knowledge/awareness
3. better public knowledge, confidence in the market, stay-ability/longevity
4. higher prices, premium prices on select names and extensions lack of public knowledge/awareness

Shorter. Better. Memorable. Cost. Restrictions. Security.

1.) What would motivate you to buy domains under any of the new gtlds?

Customer demand + comparable aquisition and holding costs to .com .

2.) What would cause you to STOP buying the new gtlds even if you’ve been provided what you needed from buying new gtlds in question 1?

Liquidity problems.

3.) What would make you START buying the new gtlds again, even if you stopped for the reasons you listed in question 2

Availability of good combos and marketing support of the registries.

4.) What would cause you to STOP buying the new gtlds again?

Global financial crisis.

1.) Precision + Innovation + Availability
2.) Price + Singular coexisting with Plural version of the TLD
3.) Trust. Ie: ICANN might validate the .MAIL new gTLD. I will keep buying/promoting domains ending in .EMAIL if ICANN definitely kills the .MAIL new gTLD.
4.) Price + Too many new gTLDs in the long term.

1. .com, .net and .org being shut-down.
2. Registries rising renewal prices substantially.
3. $10 renewals forever.
4. Inability to make money with them.

1. all about end user demand. That drives speculators which would boost liquidity.

2. If registries were closing or new extensions were being shutdown. Even with high renewals, if #1 above is still true, then renewal price won't matter much. The end user price will adjust I think.

3. If ICANN stepped in and guaranteed every extension will be safe.

4. If ICANN lied. Lol.

If it's a very good name taken in all old extensions, cheap first year fee and highly expected to sell in the next few months (no renewal, no pain to let it drop) other than that I would never buy into new extensions.

1. I reg'd english.gold and nolonger.in as an experiment, but I still haven't done much with them. I've got a few .xyz names because they were cheap, and I wanted to try a few minor projects.

2. I'm splitting this into two parts - 2a - will I renew 2b - will I buy any more.

2a - an unreasonable price increase, DNS resolution problems, no ownership protection
2b - as 2a plus lack of buyer interest, or Search engine disadvatages as a result of spammers of fraud use.

3. I'm not a forgiving person.

1. Alternate or additional version of a .com I own (either for brand protection or a shorter name)
2. High / volatile renewal prices.
3. Lower / stable renewal prices.
4. High / volatile renewal price.

What motivates me to buy new gtlds is:

- good keyword match to the extension with commercial potential (e.g.: Fishing.world, Best.deals).

- reasonable registration fee, meaning under $50, or up to $100 for killer combinations. Lower fee is better.

- What would make me stop buying is if the reg fees are jacked up to crazy amounts. Depends on the domain but unless the name gets lots of offers or traffic, it is hard to justify paying over $50 for too many names only for investment purposes.

- I am willing to dabble in some new gtlds for investment purposes, even if it's a wait, but still stick to mainly .com and .ca

1) Promo. costs only 50 cents for 1 year reg
2) High renewal fee, worth only $10 highest offer
3) Handreg: best keywords like my signature :)
4) Hold only best keywords ngtlds and back to king

When I see great match betwen left and right words, in addition with standard renewal, I buy :)

I do not invest in 'king'.
