Can you renew a domain on godaddy 32 days after it expired. For some reason I was not notified by godaddy at all that my domain was expiring and only noticed it on the expiring domain auction list. I was wondering how can I get my domain back (the domain already has bids on it)? I have worked really hard on building this site up so I dont want my hardwork essentially flushed down the toilet.

When trying to renew the domain it says "cancelled item" is there no hope?
Can I transfer the domain away from godaddy?

What can I do? thank you.

You can pay restoration fee and get it back upto 40 days.

@jameshh93
You can also transfer out for standard transfer cost of $9ish to another registrar and save the $80 but you must be quick about it

Do you have an account anywhere else?

good idea. I see yes I have an account with crazydomains too. :) Im guessing if its not fully transferred before the 45th day after expiration it gets deleted?

I forgot it gets complicated if you have privacy on - do you have privacy enabled?

Yeah got whois privacy set. I think my brother through the check out has managed to renew it now. cost him $95 :O but im glad I was still able to renew it because tis worth more than that anyway with links and such. For some reason though the domain was set to auto renew but it didnt guess cannot always rely on the auto renew feature.

If it was set to auto renew, ask support to investigate and demand a refund for the difference you paid now and should have paid.

How do you get the auth code and unlock the domain after day 19?

@LucidDomains - that is brilliant. I was gonna suggest asking for a discount on the Redemption

@Joe Styler is the one who can help now

The Auth Code you have to use the BULK Auth Code download trick
https://uk.godaddy.com/help/get-authorization-code-via-download-19030

The lock *should*be unlockable, although I am not familiar with the "cancelled item" situation of the OP

EDIT:
OK I found it
https://uk.godaddy.com/help/unlock-expired-domains-19024

This thread was where I learned all the tricks, kinda long, yet helpful

You can pay the fee. You get a lot of renewal notices even if the name is on auto renew they want to give you a heads up that it may expire. The other thing we do is if the domain fails to auto renew we tell you and then we tell you a couple more times that your time is running out to not have to pay any additional fees. I think it would be best to make sure that the account is up to date (email and valid - not expired - credit card on file for the name) You can also add another method of payment as a backup so that if the original card doesn't work we can try the next method. If your email is correct it may be blocking our emails as spam or something. You can PM me the account if you are still having issues and we can take a look into it because I don't want you to have any other issues.

You can transfer the domain to another registrar up to and including day 42 or renew and pay the $80 redemption fee and keep it at Godaddy. On regular accounts at Godaddy you can renew the domain up to 18 days after expiration or up to 25 days after expiration if you have a premier account.

Also depends on the extension.

Some extensions have different grace periods.
