One of the most common dropshipping business model is to ship goods directly from China to a customer in the US, Europ or other countries.

I suspect this model will be affected by the new trade policies developed by Donald Trump. While it may not be black and white, I can imagine this model will collapse or be strongly affected.

What do you think ?

Dropshipping is currently a very popular model. May be 10-20% of new websites.

This remark may be applicable to other domain market segments.

I would be more concerned about Trump encouraging people to seize or lock or cancel domains they don't like (or want to steal) for political reasons.

So many ToS and procedures around domains are full of holes it could get nasty.

What are the best non USA registrars to transfer to?

I suppose US consumers (including Trump) will continue to buy to China. With time, it may become more complicated or more expensive. At one point of time, the cost may no longer be attractive enough. Today, it's extremely easy to create a dropshipping business because of huge margins. If the margins erode, it will be more complex.

FYI. I remember reading news they were building "Chinese soil" cities in upstate New York somewhere near the border with Toronto, Canada and USA.

It was "being discussed" supposedly thee "idea" was to have a totally enclosed piece or real estate with it's own governing body kinda like any embassy on US soil. A Sovereign area.

hasn't happened yet but interesting that it was even considered and discussed.

if this happened well then China could theoretically ship overseas cheap labor to these designated areas to make cheap products in slave labor "states" of China located in China. Thereby circumventing USA Customs. I think?

It would satisfy Trump's desire to have things "Made in America" thee only issue would be that the workers are Chinese.

I can't find the article now. perhaps deleted as fake news? lol

It is the bending of rules under political pressure and the abuse of the court system I am more concerned about. Godaddy can just cancel your domain anytime - their ToS say so. Who is more important to them - Trump and his pals or one throwaway customer?

Yes it would be easy to incite people to launch frivolous and time consuming UDRPs even outside the USA.

Obamacare launched a new wave of start-ups. Now they’re bracing for what’s next.
"Since 2011, venture capitalists have poured $17.8 billion into digital health start-ups, including insurance shoppers for individuals and small businesses, companies that help providers take advantage of provisions in the law, and start-ups that enable employers to cut down on costs, according to Rock Health, a health start-up incubator and seed fund."

Yeah look for an even bigger demand for VR tours for all the people who are banned from the US or do not feel safe going there or don't feel like risking buying a ticket and then not being able to use it.
