Lol no mate i bought it from godaddy auctions b4 holo was a thing and nobody cared about holo.

This must be still a good amount of years back. Most Holo+keyword domains are regd so early on. Microsoft is talking for how many years about the Hololens? Maybe to first wave of Holo+keyword regs was based on the short version of hologram.

Holographicapp.com $12

Mixedrealitytoys.com $16 all these were godaddy auctions

Immersions3x.com $17

But you can't compare the names above with HoloToys. I ques you payd at least a couple of hundreds for it. I can see this one sell for a lot down the road. One of your better names for sure.

At the time i think was 2014 i paid $1,000 for holotoys.com at the time this was a big price for a holo name but i had just sold a name for good $$$$ and i then also bought holograms3x.com aswell

I thought i would be on the right track and toys are a big market he would not budge at all on price i tried a few times with no luck so i made the call to buy it.

Yeah i agree.

It takes some balls to invest 1k in a name / tech in a time when it's still considered very risky. But even now with the HoloLens (still early stage) and rising media attention i think it can sell for at least 5k. There are a lot of toy making companies and there is a proven track record of toy domain sales. With the biggest one below.

toys.com 5,100,000 USD 2009-03-01 Private

Hey @Augmentedrealitysex

Have you still got that "Software" name? I remember chatting to you back in 2014 via email about it?

Quick question?

LinqMR.com

Mixed Reality company using the abbreviation at the end seperates the confusion of "mister" association in my eyes.

Remember, as cordoba made clear to me lots of companies like to brand by using acronyms at the end of what they want to be their brand.

Microsoft abbreviates it to MR

Magic Leap abbreviates it to MR

Media have been abbreviating it to MR

Personally if there was as big an issue with the abbreviation as some people are making out, these not so small companies would have worked it put by now and dropped the MR abbreviation long ago.

Even wikpedia abbreviates it (MR)

Obviously 100% agree there is a long way to go, but to me domaining is about trying to forcast trends. And to me the trend is that the tech industry is accepting the MR abbreviation for mixed reality.

The question is do all these techs tend to have an abbreviation because in my view they all do.

I have not many domains with (MR) in front of keywords because I share the same concerns as most of you. But having it at the end of a keyword works as far as my eyes and english schooling is concerned.

Hardly any of those companies abbreviate it to MR. Mircosoft nearly always use the phrase 'mixed reality' and call all of their apps 'holo'. Magic Leap seem to be using MxRl. The media does shorten it to MR a lot (when they do refer to mixed reality instead of more often augmented reality) but that's not the same as it looking right in a domain name or as part of a brand.

People need a shortened version of mixed reality, and that will almost certainly be Holo.

Microsoft have only used one url regarding opening the door to developers regarding Mixed Reality.

That ended with MR

#whatisMR

If MR is going to be used for domains and Holo for Apps, I will take that (just kidding guys, well sort of) lol ;)

If you think Microsoft or Magic Leap don't use MR, you need to do a lot more research.

Thanks. "At Best" I will drop my Ibeacon domains simply because of the TM issue.

Died huh? lol

Damn same thing with NFC domains. those died even before Beacons did. or did they ever get "born" lol? so much tech like this comes and goes. learned hard way to keep it generic now.

Then 5G

Then LiFi

Then RMG

out of ALL VR seems to be thee only one that's going to last.

Modular, Fog, IOT and IOE too. Even though the folks in those threads are still in denial.

Unreported, as in unknown even by you? Relying in sales that you don't even know about to judge the profitability sounds like an failing strategy.

Keep buying IOT domains my friend.... INTERNET OF THINGS!

To break it down then:

Virtual Reality = VR
Augmented Reality = AR
Extended Reality = XR
Hyper/Hybrid Reality = HR
Holographic/Hologram = Holo
Mixed Reality = Holo (n)
Merged Reality = MR

Thank god I am still on the merged reality train.
