Hi, so I have a domain rapper.wiki

It's a one word domain with the word rapper, estibot.com says it's appraised at $2,900 USD, but I don't know how accurate that is. This does have potential I imagine though due to the fact it's a popular one word, but the fact that it's .wiki makes it very niche IMO.

Anyone have any ideas of its worth?

Sorry to say, but this domain has not any value.
Does not matter it is a 1 word, does not matter what estibot says, esitbot appraisal is ridicolous.
Stay away from this "shady" extensions.
Delete it if you're in grace period.

Don't delete this name, it has value, at reg. fee at the least, but more likely, 10x reg. fee as any one word, non trademarked dictionary term has value, to someone, at almost any extension! But finding that someone is the job, so how much is your time worth? It could possibly be developed into a Rapper Info portal, especially up and coming artists, complemented with some ad revenue, would then make it worth even more, but that costs money! Good Luck to you!

Oh and welcome to NamePros too!

Not agree with this reply.
I've HUNDREDS one word domains in many extensions (me, co, club, top, pro, xyz, newG).
95 % of my portfolio is one word domains (check my signature, you can find an example).
In 2 years never ever receive a single offer (via sedo/afternic/uniregistry/namepros forum) for them.
Never.
And I'm ready to sell them for an insanely cheap price if I receive an offer, I don't want 4 / 5 figures.
Except .com, 1 word domain does not mean value.
And, for well known extension like co/club/me, is the same.
.wiki?? No value, sorry.
Less than reg fee.

I do not feel any value in this domain

If done right I think this domain could be really cool to look up facts on MC's, Rappers, Hip-Hop artists...

Thank you @Julio, finally someone with some creative vision, who doesn't think that everyone else's domain names suck but theirs. Sometimes these forums get real depressing with these posters (mostly posers and trolls) claiming that these one dictionary word domains have ZERO value, especially when you look at their domain names owned, if indeed they have any? It shows not only their lack of creativity, but also a complete lack of knowledge of business, in particular this business, as ANY domain name has value, if properly marketed, but especially a single dictionary keyword, regardless of the extension, as it is easily remembered by humanity!

Not trying to pick a fight with you @lolwarrior :xf.wink: because I like most of what you say here, especially as you are a big proponent of new gTLDs including my new favorite .shop, but you come of as a little biased when you claim rapper.wiki has no value, yet you own at least 54 single dictionary word new gTLDs in your efty portfolio, some of which in my opinion are not even close to the value of rapper.wiki. So why and how could you possibly say that his name has no value, I just don't get it?
P.S. You do have some very nice names in your efty portfolio so good luck with them!

Thanks mate, I really appreciate that!
Well, to your questions, I have lot of new gTLDs, and therefore I am testing the end user interest very extensively..I am myself learning what sells well, and what are just wasted money. I admit I have domains I will just drop, as I have learned there is no interested, and I did a mistake when I regged them. I have also domains which are surprisingly good, and I was not aware of it when I bought them.
What I have learned so far (and it costed me serious money to finally realize that) is that in new gTLDs, it does not matter whether we have a dictionary word or not..what matters is the relationship between keyword and .TLD, whether they make semantic sense. And also end user usability. So in case of rapper.wiki, I do not see it clearly there, therefore I do not feel it..I can be wrong of course, as domaining is pretty unpredictable :)

I Agree - the relationship is key.
Rapper.wiki could sell as Julio suggested if done right however the competition is Rapper.news, Rapper.blog, Rapper.media. Rapper.life, Rapper.world, Rapper.site. It could be huge if developed into the market first but if any of the other options are developed first I think the value would be diminished greatly. ONE of the key points in New "G"s - He who develops first either has first advantage or fails and the other options learn from the fail without the expense of market testing.
So, another consideration is what other extensions might work better ? this is another angle I have learned to look at.
We don't know what is good or not till we put it out there to see the markets response and yes the responses are surprising!
Most times it's worth 1 yr reg as a market test. I like to buy first then decide later because if I decide first most often someone else
has already decided before me and in some cases while the domain is in my cart :)
Happy Hunting

I HATE RAP

(and I've put over 20 songs into top 10 charts on SoundCloud in 5 genres)

But IF developed it could be a nice traffic site.

If I had rap songs in my discography I'd be interest, not for big bucks, but then again I'm getting mega millions of streams in 5 genres of music NOT RAP, if I was a young kid I'd be killing that genre, but no way would I rap.

Now don't get me wrong, you have a lot of great talent in that genre, Eminem and a I used to like 50 cent when he came out, but I never ever listen to it, I've never tried to sing it, I could write it, but haven't hooked up with a legit rap artist to bother with a project.

So DEFINITE development value, easily low xxxx to an end user and that's nothing to rappers rolling in dough with an indy label perhaps that wants to put some work into controlling his genre's keyword.

I've never done any thing in .wiki but when you search for lots of terms today you see google pushing whatever wiki.

So IMO as a developer and a musician with over 100 songs to my credit, it has minor value and low xxxx is a minor value to me.

I have zero interest in this tld nor the term, but yeah it could be a major traffic site for the most popular music there is now.

GOOD LUCK

I sold a .wiki when it first came out for $2000 so yes the extension is good, however with that said if someone is looking to buy the name to start a wiki site about rappers they are cheap bastards! I dont see any one in the hip hop spotlight or media paying a lot as they will be just as happy with a non generic name for their brand.

I own my own label, so for MARKETING any label with rappers should want this IMO, not for big bucks but definitely low xxxx.

I turn down anything related to rap, I get a ton of inquires every week for production work and to listen to demos all related to RAP, so even though in music and it's BIG, it's not a genre I have interest in so I turn down money all the time related to Rap, it just is not interesting to me as a musician, producer, label owner, etc.

But IF I was into Rap, it would be of great interest to me, an artist probably not, but a label big or small, it's a cheap marketing catch that with some development could generate a ton of traffic interested in rap. So any label with rap artists should want rapper traffic, it's a no brainer really for anyone with a label big or small that markets to the huge global rap market.
