Ok, so you pick up a new domain, go to list it on Sedo, and find that your domain is already listed by the previous owner. This annoys the he'll out of me! I wonder how many of these market places are crammed full of old listings?

Makes me wonder... surely there should be a better process in place?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Happens to me too, especially Afternic.

yes there should be a better process. i think that the database should be refreshed regularly so as to note the change of ownership and to take into account the new owner.

Personally I update my portfolio across the board on a frequent basis in my own sites databases, sedo, afternic, uniregistry etc... as soon as something is no longer owned by me. Lot of domainer's don't keep up with their inventory as well. Have to send emails frequently to get old listings removed so I'd say yeah quite a few listings that are probably listed by previous owners especially at the larger markets. Usually when I buy a domain direct I'll ask can ya delete it from wherever ya have it listed as cuts down on the conflicts of adding it.

Interesting. Wonder how many here remove 'their' domain listings wherever they may be, when they drop or sell a name. Highly doubt it's many. just sayin..

Must be a lesson to us all!

I try my best to remove all my old domains that I no longer own. Afternic is the worst so far with listings that linger around after an account change.

Agree. They won't let you list a domain if a dupe already exists. The only option having to contact them to remove the old listing. A real pain.

Yep, happens to me a lot. Then I have to wait 1-2 days, sometimes longer for them to respond with an update.

Yep it happens quite a bit, but in all honesty I've probably left a few myself. I just view it as karna catching up with my own laziness. I just contact support with the info, but it is still a pain in the ass.

This does, however, give me a good idea for something tho... Thanks OP for bringing it up...
