I see the market and it seems that prices go down. What do you think the future of these domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Also, no one here is colluding amongs each other.
BUT, I do tell you who is screwing your mind up. That is HugeDomains raising bids on Godaddy.com Auctions. Those are the companies colluding.
Interesting... why do you think that?

Agreed. The market will gain intelligence and realize that CHIPs are not at prices that they should be and useless 4L.coms with random letter combinations are also overpriced. Pronouncable and Brandable 4L.coms I think will appreciate with value as more and more companies search for short meaningful domains.

There was an article on NamePros in regards of HugeDomains buying up GoDaddy dropped auction domains. Some of the bids that are placed on some domains make you scratch your head of why those domains are getting those kind of high bids.
If you look at the trend, they all cap out at around $500 bucks.
Meaning that someone or something is up-bidding on GoDaddy auctions.
No matter if it's a Two Word.com, 4letter.com or even 5letter.com's they are selling for high figures.
But, isn't interesting when some of us domainers post a domain on GoDaddy auctions of similar character length, they don't get as many bids.
I'm sure you would agree if you have posted on GD auction lately.
Ever wonder why GoDaddy doesn't show you a (username) of who's bidding?
Why is it so anonymous?
Like this post if you agree with me or had similar experience on GoDaddy Auctions!

I mean, HugeDomains definitely seems to be shafting their own customers.

4l are low at the moment. All liquids are down. Chinese market is down. Auctions are also very funny at the moment. Huge domains is definitely overpaying for domains making it impossible to buy something decent. It makes me wonder what's really going on in the market.

Could also be something to do with Chinese New Year starting today right? I know a lot of Chinese sellers who were selling in the few weeks leading up to Chinese New Year to get funds for the holiday. I think it goes on for 10 days or so and maybe will go up after? I can't remember where I read it but i read something where namejet was holding on auctions until after the Chinese New Year holiday is over. Would make sense I guess.

Money laundering. False market.

I speculate the chip market was originally used to launder money, wash it, clean it. And it took off in that way. Garbage llll's we weren't able to sell for $25 in 2010 are now worth the most?

Anyway I think things will bounce back for Brandable and Pronouncable 4L.com's and leave CHIPS and useless random 4L.coms behind.

Charts on Shortnames don't lie.

Lately only CHIPs are going down. The other 2 dot com charts are showing signs of strenght, especially western premium.

So I don't see why people are bearish on 4L.com at the moment.

Only four 4L sold under 200 in auctions reported on Shortnames since the beginning of 2017.
3 of those 4 were on eBay/Bido which are not good platforms to sell.
The last one sold for 195 two weeks ago on GD. Pretty close to $200

So honestly I think the value of random/uncategorized 4L is quite steady between $200-$225 at the moment.

Dominic,
Sir, look what you are saying, "4L is quite steady between $200-$225 at the moment"
That alone should tell you how far down the barrel 4letter domains have gone.
Domains that were selling $400 to $500 few months back are now $225 floor.
I'm not here to bash the 4Letter market because I myself own quite a few, but I'm just pointing out the obvious, that it keeps going down.

Was just going to post the same thing. They need to look at the past few pages of llllsales.com. Aside from a few off-market sales, it makes no sense what some of these people are saying.

You're right. I'm new and don't know anything. My bad.

Random 4L never had a bottom price higher then $325. Look at the charts in March 2016. That was to best period.

Not all sales are posted, who's going to brag about selling 4Ls for $190? Lol.

It goes the other way too. Good sales are not all reported.
So the bottom price on Shortnames is a very good indicator of the market.

Very good points Dom. The only challenge with the sales charts on short names is that they don't pull from all market platforms. They pull from maybe 7 or so markets and don't include platforms such as Np or private sales negotiated from within these sales platforms. Admittedly there would never be a way to integrate all sales from every avenue but I tend to be concious of this when following trends on shortnames.
