Dendrobium is an electric hypercar from Singapore set to debut in Geneva

Singapore may not be the first country that comes to mind when thinking about car manufacturers, but the country will make a splash with its first electric hypercar at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. Williams Advanced Engineering has partnered with electric mobility company Vanda Electrics to create the Dendrobium EV, teased in the video above.

Building a supercar is a bit of a leap for Vanda Electrics, which has in the past produced electric scooters and the Ant electric mini truck. Luckily, they've been lent the racing and engineering expertise of Williams F1 as a technical partner, bringing knowledge on everything from aerodynamics to composites to batteries to propulsion. There aren't a lot of details about the car's construction or its powertrain, but a dedicated site for the car mentions "exquisite surfaces of aluminium, carbon fibre and glass."

Apple’s newly registered car-related domains do not point to Apple’s CarPlay site which lists partnered automakers and supported apps, however, which further suggests the new domains are either continued teases or actual domains Apple plans to use in the future. Another possibility is that Apple has picked up the new domain names to prevent others was cashing in on them in the future, but either way the evidence that Apple is developing an electric vehicle is only growing and will surely continue this year.

Daimler leads $82 million investment to expand ChargePoint’s electric vehicle charging network into Europe

Electric vehicle (EV) charging network ChargePoint has raised $82 million in a round of funding led by German automotive giant Daimler, with participation from existing investors that include BMW i Ventures, Linse Capital, Rho Capital Partners, and Braemar Energy Ventures.

Founded in 2007, Campbell, California-based ChargePoint is among the biggest EV charging networks in the world, with more than 30,000 charging stations across North America and Australia. The company has now raised more than $255 million since its inception, including a chunky $59 million infusion last May. This latest tranche represents its biggest single investment to date, and it will be used to fund the company’s mission to “lay the foundation for Europe’s most comprehensive and intelligent charging network,” according to a company statement.

The latest funding actually represents part of a larger $100 million raise, but only $82 million of it has been unlocked for now — the company wouldn’t elaborate on what the additional money is contingent on or when it will be arriving. It is likely tied to ChargePoint meeting some pre-agreed targets with its investors, however.

Maybe you should give them a holler?
