information Sedo Unveils a Radical New Design

Spaceship Spaceship
The popular domain name marketplace, Sedo, has unveiled a brand new, comprehensive redesign that marks the end of an era in terms of the company’s traditional blue and white colour scheme, with the new design opting for a colour scheme consisting primarily of grey and blue, with all pages being affected by the marketplace’s redesign.

The new design includes a brand new homepage that is far cleaner and more concise than its predecessor. The featured domain names take pride of place on the homepage, along with adverts for marketplace auctions and Sedo’s own auction events.

Sedo's New Home Page

Searching for domain names is as simple as ever with the new design, thanks to the ever present domain search bar at the top of the page, and easy access to a range of features once you’re on the domain search page. Sedo’s redesign also makes it easier to switch between languages, with 12 different language options available, including Chinese.

Sedo CEO Tobias Flaitz said “We’re very proud of the newly designed website going live. This crucial step upholds Sedo as THE most trusted and leading business partner for global premium domain trading. With this responsive design now available on all devices, the opportunities for success are increased and supported by value adding services and maximizing domain monetization.”

One change that all regular Sedo users will see is the enhanced domain landing page. While the design of Sedo’s parking pages are currently the same, the domain’s landing pages have had a complete redesign, with a central image and statistics. The domain landing pages are all mobile friendly, which, considering that the smartphone is now the most popular way to browse the Internet, is very good news.

The landing pages' "Buy Now" button has been moved to the right of the page on a desktop layout, but becomes centralised on the mobile version.

Early reactions to this redesign are mixed, with some investors calling the new interface "nice, elegant and more professional", while others are more critical.

Sedo regularly published weekly sales figures totaling $1 million or more, so it will be interesting to see whether this new design has a positive or negative effect on those figures in the next few months.

Hi there, and thanks for the suggestion! I'll be forwarding this request to the right department. I'll let you know if there's news. Thanks again, and talk to you soon.

sorry if already asked, but can u explan why you charge min $60 fee when every other place charges $15-20 min? I never figured that one out.

thanks.

Sure!

The minimum fee includes:

- The technical domain transfer
- A personal transfer agent that guides you through the transfer process (like, real people working for you)
- An individual purchase agreement
- Secure payment of the purchase price ·

Let me know if you have any questions.

thank you for quick reply. your support sure does seem great.

to be honest, I am not particularly sure which of these points are also provided by those other places that charge the $15-20 I mentioned. maybe none, maybe all. I really have no clue. I do believe godaddy auctions with the $15 min fee, offers pretty mcuh all of it.

is there any chance you can reduce that fee, cause from looks of it no one in the right mind wil now opt to sell a $100 on your site to get $40 from it when they can do same at say godady and get $85 back? appreciate you forward this to higher management.

you are simply 4-5 more expensicve than everyone else around you. I do not see how this is a good thing for you or for domainers. regards

Sure, you're welcome, and thank you for the kind words.

The minimum selling price for domains at Sedo is $90, the minimum fee $60. Please always have in mind what amount you want to receive in the end. Price your domains accordingly, and you'll be happy at Sedo, even with low three-figure sales :)

yes thanks. I am aware of all this.

what I am trying to express to you however is that people/domainers own domains they wish to sell or which are valued in lower ranges too. say 100-300$ .. or even just up to $100.

so I was suggesting that for such sales and people, selling on sedo does not become competitive option.

and then I asked if you can do something about this. to make it competiive.

thanks.

Gotcha. I'll send this discussion to the right department and get back you if there's a development.

that's be really nice of you.

I think you had that minimum in place for how many years again? and possibly, received 100s of requests to lower it since then.. so my hopes are not high. but not dead either.

perhaps by allowing 100 000 more people per year to sell their $100 on sedo at $15 fee, by lowering you fee, versus the 10 000 people who may be doing it now with your current minimums out of synch with other marketplaes... this can stll put 900k extra profit in your pocket. just a quick math.. but something like that. I think you get the picture.

thanks again for your considerations.

@Sedo is there any other registrars you don't do internal transfers with besides netfirms.
I recently sold a name for $125 - $60 fee and i had to send buyer auth codes.
Usually it would be transferred into your account.
Guy in charge said you don't do internal transfer with netfirms and i wondered if that include dotster or any other registrar?
Like Alcy said I paid $60 fee on $125, and it took like 10 days to complete. Your fee for $100-200 names is to much, considering I am doing a 3 way thing with sending code to you to give to buyer, for them to transfer from netfirms to goodaddy, this person could have dragged it out much longer.
Please list registrars you dont do internal transfer to your escrow please
I like the make offer option on bin pages, nice touch

The minimum fee includes:

- The technical domain transfer

So the fees covers domain transfer. I recently bought a .co.uk Domain through Sedo. As Sedo did the transfer from the seller to its account, I was sent an extra invoice of £10 for handling the transfer.

The minimum fee includes:
.
.
.
- Secure payment of the purchase price ·

But I had to pay an extra 2.5% on top of purchase price for secure payment.

I believe you are referring to the non-publication fee? Usually we publish our sales to inform the media, to educate end-users and for other marketing purposes. If you wish that your domain transfer stays confidential, we charge a 2.5% fee, that is correct.

Thanks for your message! I'll make sure to pass along the compliment about the BIN page. :)

The change in pushing domains is due to the changes in ICANN transfer policies. The list of registrars that allow pushing (without a 60-day lock) will continue to expand, but right now not all do support the "internal transfer". It DOES work with these registrars, among others: Internetx, Name.com, Dynadot, ename, and Fabulous.com.

Much better than the previous design. Still doesn't look very appealing.

Thanks, but this screenshot is showing the visitors of SEDO parked pages only.

I made an original screenshot (current circumstance) and a fictionary one (as a before / after) comparison what I mean:

ORIGINAL SCREENSHOT
Show attachment 36153

At this (original) screenshot we can see 3 circles:
  • VISITORS PER MONTH (only if the domain is parked via SEDO - otherwise this would be N/A)
  • REGISTERED (offerd at SEDO since)
  • BIDS SUBMITTED

FICTIONAL SCREENSHOT
Show attachment 36154

At this (fictional) 'screenshot' we can see 5 circles:

  • YEAR OF REGISTRATION
  • LISTED ON SED SINCE
  • MONTHLY VISITORS DOMAIN / WEBSITE
  • MONTHLY VISITORS OFFER PAGE
  • BIDS SUBMITTED

Hi everyone, we just released a new version of our offer page. We took your feedback into consideration and changed the "Domain Facts" section.

  • There won't be any N/A fields anymore
  • There can be up to 6 Domain Facts displayed, instead of 3 from before
    • offer views
    • number of watchers
    • traffic (if parked)
    • number of bids
    • first registration date (not "listed since" anymore)
    • Search engine search requests for the SLD
  • The Facts will now be displayed on mobile devices as well

I've added a screenshot, so you can see what I'm referring to. We'll keep optimizing our pages to make them work best for you. Let me know if you have any questions.

nice!

have you taken into consideration in any shape or form the 534545454 requests people made to offer som consideration and accomodation to those who may want to use your site to sell domains in the upto $200 or so range... and not be forced to pay $60 min for that?
otherwise your just losing cliens.. and everyone is going to flippa, godaddy afternic for those sales.. where they charge 15-20%

I mean it must feel just awful to be the highest charging and most unreasonable min sale price auction site in the whole industry... any thoughts on this and hopefully a swift fix? thanks!

Thanks.

Can these domain facts be turned off or set to 0 ?

You can deactivate showing traffic. If there's no data available, we'll just show a message "no data is currently available". The facts shown always depend on what data your domain has and if it's relevant.

So we can't select which domain facts to show, Sedo will automatically show the domain facts (up to 6) if there's relevant data for each one. Is that right?

Any news on 2FA at Sedo?

Not right now, no. I did pass on the info I got from here and we're discussing the issue,. We're working on some product-related and interface-related items right now and will finish these first. I'll let you know if here's any development.

That's about right, yes.

Are you talking about Parking ads?

The butt name, yes. Parked. The ads are adult even though I have blocked adult words. Keyword is jokes

Background picture i am referring to is one for offer page, as in the example you posted above.

Mummy> food?

You can't change the picture on the offer page. It's an automated system. Hmm, not sure why you still see adult ads. Did you change the keyword just recently? It might be easiest to contact CS at [email protected], so we can check out this behavior.
