I see the market and it seems that prices go down. What do you think the future of these domains?

Talk to the "old guys", 4 L has left a bad taste in our mouths. There is still some money to be made in them, but like all domain names...be careful

4L is hot right now, but may not be same price in few months. What shoots up easy can also fall down easy.

But again, 4L seems safe bet if you consider the alternatives. People choose .com over other gtlds, in the same way, people choose 4L over other longer names. just my 2 cents

Hi there. All depend on how will evolve certain markets. Surely I would not spend too much for 4LLLL. A domainer cannot risk to spend too much if is not secure to resell good!

but actually, there is no end user for the non chips domains? its just a game of resellers ?
cause if it isn't brandable why this domain so high?
Absolutely there is end-user interest for non-chip domains, at least those in the so-called "Western premium" category. However, there seems (to me) to have been a major slide in end-user demand in the past year or so. Whether that changes remains to be seen -- 2017 will be a bellwether for sure.

Also, post the chip-tsunami and even now looking at non-chip 4L sales, it's very sobering to see the vast number of LLLL .com domains that continue to change hands. After all, in many ways it's largely a numbers game in the 4L market.

There are 457K 4L domains. To put that in perspective, about 2 thousand times more (1 bil) iPhones have been sold to date.... scarcity

Another perspective is ration of 457K (4L) to the total number of .com domains registered is about 115 mil. about 1/270...scarcity

Only threat I see is if overall .com starts losing popularity. That's a tough one though because its been burned in people's brains. I asked an 8 year old yesterday if they prefer .com or .music on a music subject. The answer was .com.

All investments require the climbing of a wall of worry. Enjoy the climb, or get out of the game. Reduce your stress by doing your own research. Sunday's game is actually played during the week leading up to it, on Sunday you just execute.

Prices are fluctuating, so some investors are selling slowly

It is a crapshoot really, I see a listing here on the forum that has been up for 4 days, at a BIN of $195, lots of V, but no takers. It is almost like playing hot potato, until you have a better name to play.

Has anyone got a link to that sales thread?

IMO 4L .com will only go up in value. Scarcity.
So will 5L, but maybe only above reg fee in 10 years time or longer since nowhere near as scarce or easily sold to end users.

4L.com is always a good investment but should be taken with a very watchful eye.

They are high because they are traded like a commodity in relation to chips which are running maybe $1400 on average now. Since there is a finite number of 460,000 or so, and 160,000 chips, they trade them on scarcity.

Many of the names I have held for years, without any traffic, or inquiries, I have sold, it is not hard to work thru the letters, and figure out not much can be made of most.

But each domain is different, and you have to figure it out for yourself.

True but eventually, in liquidity, even a,e,i,o,u, and v's sell. Heck even many fours.

VRLL.com and LLVR.com seem to be the only 4L's that are trading at any descent numbers right now. Even Chips are down. I have had some pitiful offers for solid 4L's that a month or so ago would have seen high $xxx. The problem is that floor prices are so cheap now with some going into the $190's that hardly anyone is selling. Anyone noticed the sharp drop in 4L.com's posted for sale even on Np over the last week or so? Lead up to Chinese New Year maybe? Dunno but right now I think the 4L market is hitting rock bottom and may decline further before it bounces back over the next few months. Remember it's also how we as resellers react that helps determain when prices will raise. If we get nervous and stop buying out of fear that we won't be able to flip for a descent profit prices will rebound slower. At the same time if we offer each other ridiculous amounts for descent names then sales won't happen and nothing will move fast either.

Just my thoughts here...

I sense collusion to help drive down prices. Worthless b.s. and hearsay without real examples to back it up. I checked shortnames.com last night and see no substantial change over the past few weeks.

The burden of proof is on the naysayers.

By the way, one or two members selling crap random 4L at +/- $200 does not reflect the aftermarket.

Also, do you think 4L chips are still rising? Show me where. Prove me wrong.
