Hello,

I had planned to put this, along with a plan to build an easy to use pay per view platform for combat sports, on kick starter but I have been contacted by CSC Global asking to purchase this domain on behalf of ITV Broadcasting Ltd. They are bringing back their program The Big Fight Live for box office 2017.

Early in negotiations at this stage, I didn't know who they were or who they were buying for until checking Who.is on thebigfightlive.co.uk to find that the registrant was ITV Broadcasting Ltd and the registrar was CSC Digital Brands and also seeing their news saying it was coming back.

They've made an offer of 3000 GBP, which I don't think really cuts the mustard.

What do you think?

Edit: for those unaware ITV is one of the biggest TV companies in the UK

Hi Laurenceo,

Yes, ITV are the second biggest terrestrial broadcaster in the UK - so they have deep pockets - however they also have a big internet presence as itv.com, where all their programmes are featured. I would imagine this might be a tidying up exercise, so not sure they will go too high.

Not sure if this helps, but good luck.

I'm pretty sure that maybe exactly what's going on.

Would it then be appealing to other buyers though?

Hello,
...I have been contacted by CSC Global asking to purchase this domain on behalf of ITV Broadcasting Ltd. They are bringing back their program The Big Fight Live for box office 2017.

Why do you suppose they wanted you to do this "deal"? Can't the producers afford to have one of their staff members do this task?

... I didn't know who they were or who they were buying for until checking Who.is on thebigfightlive.co.uk to find that the registrant was ITV Broadcasting Ltd ...

So, you were 'hired' to buy a DN from the same people who hold it? Of course, it all makes perfect sense.

They've made an offer of 3000 GBP, which I don't think really cuts the mustard.

What do you think?.
I think it will be a lot easier to find unicorns and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

You got a very legit offer for a nationally renowned ITV program that is restarting in 2017 after 7 years hiatus. They definitly have interest and room to negotiate a deal with you so make sure you understand the value of the name to them.

Counter in the 5 figure GBP range and see what happens. No unicorns here, they want the name...now go sell it to them for a price that makes both parties happy.

And who are "they"? Did you understand what he wrote?

Before all this is erased, he doesn't even have the right to "sell" anything here. The entire premise is that, allegedly, he was 'contacted' by a company called CSS Global. Meantime CSS Global is also in the DN business.

Why would they have a "web designer/developer" negotiate the purchase of what would probably become a very important asset to the show, especially if they have their own agents on payroll?

Naturally, this CSS Global could have been approached by the ITV company, but if they have their own agents, they wouldn't have a developer buy their client's domain.

Then, there is also this issue of 'thebigfightlive.co.uk' running on redemption time. Why on earth ITV didn't renew it? I tell you what, if it gets to drop, then it's available again, so I am getting it fair and square.

Regards,

id say its worth alot more than this, ITV probably spend more than this on just staff expenses, they would spend millions on a single TV show.

My feeling is that ITV is so big, that someone there simply forgot to renew their domain, but it will most likely be done at the eleventh hour.

Lets see if I've got this straight.
OP owns TheBigFightLive.com.
Owner of TheBigFightLive.co.uk is ITV Broadcasting LTD.
CSC Global is their brand protection and management company as well as the reg house.
The brand protection company / reg house contacted OP to sell them the com.
Right so far?

Just the paranoia in me, but my first instinct would be watch out for the reverse hijack.
You may want to make up a disclaimer before going any further in negotiations.

Peace,
Cyberian

I think you're on another planet.

CSC, acting as ITV's agent, are trying to buy the domain from me. It's really really simple and straight forward.

What I'm saying is if you don't budge off the 3000 offer they might use that as evidence against you in a case. It has been done before. If you get a disclaimer before you go any further that says any convo cannot be used against you bla bla bla....that might help.
IANAL

You may want to check this in Legal section. I could be all wrong.

3000 was their offer, they've since increased it.

Thank you for clarifying Cyberian. I don't know why I thought the title of Laurenceo's topic was TheBigFightLive.co.uk. Must go to an optician now. LOL.

Thanks again,

Regards,

I feel awful Laurenceo, I apologize. I thought you wanted an estimate for TheBigFightLive.co.uk, a domain that is soon to be dropped. My bad and the reason why I acted as if I was on another planet :)

Now the advice I should have given in the first place:

I would give them the domain for about $30,000. Asking for more would be pushing your luck. I am pretty sure they have the right to claim the domain name legally, but the litigation costs are so prohibitive that they are probably seeing if it would be cheaper to pay you off instead.

That's why you are dealing with CSS Global not ITV. Think of how much it would cost in legal expenses to sue somebody especially if that person is abroad. Your ideal sale price should be a few thousands below that expense.

You can tell CSS Global that I told you so :)

Regards and good luck!
