ETA: OK I updated just in case there are other chat improvement ideas

1]
It would be super awesome if there was a way to actually tag other users in chat. Right now we all tag, but it's visual only and the fun part is nicknaming the usernames since it's chat and full typing is tedious. Sometimes it is unclear which comment is for whom and that can be problematic.

Notifications would be nice in case you step away from chat and miss a comment.

Does some function exist to make this possible?

2]
Scroll back is useful, however if new messages are incoming the scroll back jumps and makes it tedious to read. It would be nice to be able to freeze just long enough to read.

Thank you

Could you list the ways that would be better than Private Conversations (PM)?

Thanks,
1. Live Conversation
2. It would be similar to an instant messaging type thing.
3. We could talk in real time
4. Maybe, have audio feature too if possible. Video feature probably wouldn't be needed but it would be cool to have audio and not have to type.
5. A live private chat would be cool if we could invite others to join a small private room.
6. It would be a good way to conduct deals with a buyer or buyers without having to publically discuss the deals in chat (like some people are doing).
7. Just seems cool overall and beneficial to the community.

Thought of another one: actual timestamps - instead of X minutes ago the real time would be stellar especially for selling days, then if I post a name for sale I can know the exact time, and if the chat moves faster than the scroll back shows to see my prior sale post, I know the time and can safely post again 15 minutes later. You can sorta do it manually, or wait and hover, the hover is difficult when moving fast, I tried cut and paste and it only show X minutes also.

Something to change/add:

Don't know if same on desktop PC,
but on mobile you click on [chat]
then on [full chat]

.. now you have a nice big chat window..
but got no nav back to main site.
Stay in chat or close tab.

A small back or home button would be great

What's on your mind? | Rules | Full Chat
:) plz add [home] or [back]

What can chat do for you today? https://www.namepros.com/threads/request-chat-improvements-user-tagging-and-more.995646/
  2. 12 minutes ago - Namescost:
would it not be cool if you could spam all day long... but allow an ignore on spam posts ... it would be like two chat rooms at once with just one logical switch
  3. 12 minutes ago - Namescost:
a simple check box next to your post if its a spam one
  4. 11 minutes ago - Namescost:
that alll users could optionally ignore such or not anyday
  5. 11 minutes ago - JayT:
they could add a 'tag' button, so when you send a spam message you have to 'tag it' and then users can select weather they want to see those or not.
  6. 11 minutes ago - Namescost:
thus making it all day spam and no spam at once
  7. 11 minutes ago - JayT:
    yea lol
  8. 11 minutes ago - Namescost:
    exactly
  9. 11 minutes ago - ProDomains:
    would be pretty sweet
  10. 7 minutes ago - usernamex:
Yes post those ideas in thread - would be excellent if we had a solution to allow selling all the time AND keep it under control
  11. 3 minutes ago - JayT:
you :p just say we need a 'spam' button next to send, and a check box for 'ignoring spam'...if one wishes

OK @Namescost @JayT @ProDomains tell me quick if ya need edits or if you are cool with this : wink :

Added ;)

Thought of another one: actual timestamps - instead of X minutes ago the real time would be stellar especially for selling days
Hover over the relative time and it will show the absolute time. ;)
  • Hovering on your desktop is done by placing your mouse cursor over the text and waiting a second for the popup to show the actual time.
  • Hovering on mobile devices is different depending on your phone and may involve taping the time text.

Hope that helps,
