V/e/r/i/P/h/a/r/m/a
in king

Sale venue: Outbound
Seller: Me
Asking price: $899 .. details below
Sale price: $850
Purchase price: $2 reg + $8.17 transfer.

Details: Firstly, for the first time in a year of emailing potential buyers, I have received a reply saying "Thanks a lot for contacting us". All other replies until now were just "how much" or "no thanks".

Handregged domain during domain.com $2 .com deals. Contacted all the potential buyers I could find. I usually prefer to look for buyers who have the exact or very similar keywords in their current domain but the buyers for this domain didn't own any similar domains, they just had a 'product' called "V/e/r/i/P/h/a/r/m/a". I found them on google. So I couldn't find their CEO and I just emailed all the "social@" and "info@" emails I found on their site and also contacted through the "Contact Us" page.

The email was read a lot of times according to GetSideKick plugin. Few days later they replied with a offer of $600. They did their research... just few weeks ago I got desperate due to the low number of sales and reduced the prices of almost all my domains at AfterNic. The price for the above domain was set to $899. The domain was still listed at Sedo for $2000. And it was obvious that they thought if my BIN price is $899 I would take $600. I had to sell the domain but I knew that the $899 price I set for this domain was too low! I didn't understand why would I set the BIN at just $899!? But I couldn't back away from it, I needed the sale and I just told them I would not sell for $600, they told me that it's for sale at $899 and they are willing to pay up to $850. "It's fair". I took the offer and told them to pay through Escrow but the CEO said due to "accountability and bureaucratic reasons" he can only pay through PayPal or bank transfer. I chose PayPal.

The domain was at MyDomain.com and I thought it would be a headache for them to create an account there so I asked them their preferred registrar, also they didn't knew anything about domain transfers so I transferred the domain into my GD account, which costed me $8.17 and then moved it into the buyers account.

imo, it's a great domain and I don't understand why no one neither backordered it nor picked it up after it dropped, the .fr is developed and they would've benefited a lot from this domain, not sure why they didn't replied to me, or maybe my email went in their spam folder, I never checked, even though I use the GetSideKick plugin.

So much to learn from this sale. Even though if I hadn't reduced the BIN at AfterNic, I might've sold it for 2x the current sale price, but for a $2 domain, $850 is great.

I hope everyone benefits.

Thanks NamePros.

I have all my Afternic names with BINs on them. I'm a huge believer in putting a BIN on everything.

46% of my domains are at BB.
Do you park your domains at Afternic or forward them to the sales lander there showing the BIN?

Yes I use a gmail account. AFAIK, you can use a custom email address with gmail. I don't know how to do it but I read somewhere that it's possible.

Great sale man !

It also demonstrates the power of $2 purchases (I guess you wouldn't mind too much had it failed to sell)

It all adds up.

small gd premium listing sale
bin=95$
l i g h t n i n g b o l t .co

bought np auction few motnhs ago for $1-2

but hey... some domainers became milionaires selling handregs for $50 each ;)
it just took them a while (someone told me this story recently hehe)

I even forgot I ever put price on it and made it gd premium lol
so this is first time for me I got this weird gd email talking about premium sale.
usually I just sell on gd auctions.
maybe I underestimate power of these listing types.
if I understand correctly they are independent of gd auctions and one can for example set gd auction bin = $500 and gd premium $1000... not sure.. maybe someone more expert in this can confirm. but from looks of it that's possible.

another reason to move as manyh domains as possible to GD... I alresdy had a bunch (of reasons)...premium listings only work for dn residing there.

I've had domains at other registrars listed at GD premium listings.. domains are not required to be at GD. And if I am mistaken, we can always list at AfterNic and the domains will show up at GD auctions too.. right?

like I said, this is a fairly confusing subject.

what I am talking about when I say gd premium listing is specifically this:

you go to your gd domain manager panel, you checkbox a domain you want to put there, then u click monetize tab on top.. and thne you click sell as premium listing.

once you do that, gd actually takes you through a whiole checkout process to complete this. of course, your total charge is 0$. but u gotta go through it.

so for above, the domain needs to be on gd. else it just don't show in your dn manager :)

now as far as premium listings and/or transfer netwoks go.. from afternic or other places etc.. that's a whole diff ballpark.

and from looks of it.. even listing on godady auctions (with bin) is completely independent of this gd premium listing too.. and the two bins can be totally different. I'll double check on that though. but looks like it!

I didn't say it was confusing for nothing as you see hehee

...domains are not required to be at GD...

I use GD Premium Listings all the time. To the best of my knowledge, you can only list domains domiciled at GD. Has the policy been changed overnight? Either way, whatever will favour the domain investor would be a welcome development (y)

I actually just gave them call about ti.. so I know it all well before I list all my gd domains on premium.. here is how it works:

- u can only list gd registered domains on premium listings. cause it needs to go through control panel at gd, then click monetize tab.
- premium listings only show in one place on gd to buyers.. which is when they use domain searchbar, to register domains. so if what they want to reg is taken, and you have that dn as premium with price, then they'll see it there and have option to do bin on it.
- premium is independent of gd auctions. one has nothing to do with the other.
you can have bin 500 on premium and bin 1000 on auctions. gd auctions can accomodate domains from any registrar. premium cannot.
- commission fee for all listing types on gd is same = 20%

that's all on that from me. hope this helps anyone who wants to try it. no such thing as too much exposure in domaining!

gl!

Did you advertise ? where ?

ohh sorry I only go the outbound route, I never pay or advertise my names any other way.
All my reg fee names are priced in the $100-$750 price range.
